Aviva Drive App Save 48% on annual policy

Hi all,

It's not a new deal, but thought it was worth reminding people as I've just saved £720!!

All you need to do is download the Aviva Drive App and drive like miss daisy for 200 miles, depending on your score you can get a whopping 28% discount off your policy which stays for as long as you renew with Aviva.

I just drove 200 miles on the motorway when I had a trip planned, which is an easy way to get a top score (I got 9.5 out of 10).

You can also add another 20% discount on top by purchasing an annual travel policy, the cheapest is around £20, which is well worth it for the discount even if you don't need it.

Hope this helps some people

They don't seem to like me, did a quote and it was £2500 I only pay 400
Cost twice as much for me.

Yeah it can be pricey, but usually the potential 48% off evens it out. But I can guess with the algorithms, it depends on the individual
Don't think my insurance is due until August, does anyone know how long before hand you can do your 200 mile drive and save the discount for ?
I was with them for 2 years and this year they decided to try and charge me £120 extra even with the drive app they said they didn't need it but they used it the year before =/

I'm not 100% mate, but I'm pretty sure it just stays on your account until you take out a policy with them. My sisters is due in August and she's done the 200 miles now in prep
This type of app should be available to all insurers and used permanently or checked regularly by insurers.

As it stands it's just like passing your driving test
Before you pass - you must drive like an angel within speed limits and be conscious of all your and others actions
After you pass - most will drive like the devil just over the speed limits and get chatting to your passenger or social media connection

I think 99% of drivers could easily spend up to 4hrs driving within speed limits and without over braking to save £100 or more but this sales tactic does nothing for real long term road safety.

I know the police and authorities should do more.... when was the last time
A - You saw a vehicle being pulled over?
B - You heard a friend or relative got a fine/ticket
C - You saw a karma (caught/chased by police) on youtube that happened in the UK

AFAIK only 3 or 4 of the 43 police forces around the UK are pro-active with dashcam footage and our roads are getting worse.

Yes for the sensible drivers who constantly drive safely any discount is rewarding but this sham app/sales tactic should be identified for what it is.

I agree with your point and agree there should be more proactive and progressive ways to encourage safer driving. However the reason for sharing this app was more to help people pay less for their insurance, whilst also encouraging safer driving. As the insurance industry is an arbitrary joke in itself and wanted to help people not get sharked by paying exorbitant amounts, for a mandatory insurance from a cartel run trade.

I understand the need to help reduce costs and haven't voted but just felt that the sham app/sales tactics should be pulled up for what it is.

Although theoretically I'm supposedly too old to be a SJW

I can understand your perspective, it's unfortunate we live in a time where profit is the God ahead of consideration and the safety of others

Was pretty disappointed with aviva this year. Multicar policy went up and worked out cheaper to insure with 2 new policies with aviva themselves.
Miss Daisy had a chauffeur, presumably because her eyesight had gone and she was driving like a lunatic.

Just buy a annual travel policy and then contact aviva so they can apply the discount mate, if you want you could contact them before getting the travel policy just to make sure they'll honour it

As long as you've completed 200 hours with the app, Aviva should be able to retrieve your score

So if you drive carefully for 200 miles, and then drive like a wally for a couple of months, and then apply for insurance, only those first 200 miles are taken into consideration? Is that right?

I'm not advocating driving like a wally, just informing people that you can save money on your insurance by driving carefully for 200 miles. These are the ones taken into account in relation to your score/discount
I’ve just realised that’s a new quote through aviva is cheaper than renewal

Is the multi product discount a time limited promotion or is it applicable all year round? On the website, it says you can get 20% off if you're already with Aviva but only until 13th of July

The reason I ask is because my car renewal is next month. However, I've been planning to get a new car before then. I'm worried that by the time I buy a new car, the 20% offer will be gone. Ofc I can lock in a quote now but I don't know how flexibly I can change the registration plate (provided it's the same vehicle) once I've been offered a quote.

I know Aviva have multi policy discounts but I can't remember if it is 10% or 20%? Which is why I want to know if the 20% off is only until 13th of July or whether it's a running offer.

Something else I've noticed is that when I enter my details for a quote, it gives me the price after the Drive app discount. Perhaps they already have my score from my current quote but even if I enter a different e-mail address and name, it gives me a quote after the Drive discount.

Is it just me? It's very sneaky of them to do this because the price you're quoted is the potential lowest price, meaning that your premium may be higher if you don't score under a 7.

Anyone had problems using this app? It keeps stopping part way through a journey.
One of the big selling points is that you do not have to spend ages inputting your details
This is all well and good providing you get a realistic quote when you spend the time to input the basics
3 times the lowest quote i received from another insurance website
I dont think so
Is the 20% additional discount still going on if you have the annual travel insurance? Can’t seem to find any information on this on their website
