It should track, TCB emailed me within 5 minutes off the purchase, confirming the cashback!

Got the i3 version of this and its nice (W8 aside) - the i3 version comes round every now and then for £299 from the Asus shop (returns), which is where I got mine. Worth the extra for me, but either way chuck one of the current cheap ssd bargains in, biggest difference of all.

I have one - screen a tad smaller than some, but possibly the best laptop of the 10 or so I have owned. Touchscreen makes W8 quite usable actually.

No brainer at £250. Just buy one.

The Pentium processor is not very good, you better off going for the i3 version.

Bought argos refurb a few weeks ago, in good nick.
Superb laptop, Windows 8.1 a lot better.
However, google "quiethdd" as the HDD in ours at least keeps parking and slows the machine down, especially when doing updates.

So good, we bought a S400 (bigger brother) too.

Bargain - and a nice bit of kit

how much would an i3 version be?

Hot

really need some quick advice!

I got this down to £235 using my tesco club card vouchers and the code OP provided. Could possibly go down further to around £225 with TCB.

Now, I just need a laptop to do my uni work and general browsing. Is this worth it for £235?

Found the i3 on eBay for £313 - that was a Refurbished Grade A, its not available on Tesco Direct

Definitely for £225! I am starting uni next year and that is exactly what I bought this for! The reviews all rave about it, so yes!

Possibly a refurb passed off as new. My brother purchased a 'new' laptop off these cowboys, he would never have known it was a refurb had it not been for the google chrome auto-fill settings. Turns out it had been returned not once but twice. They offered him a full refund +10%. Will never buy anything electrical from tesco ever again.

So either a profit or a great value new netbook! Great!

find it hard to believe anything running windows 8 would win an award.

true, just a heads up for anyone buying. Forgot to mention, his laptop was first purchased by some guy in London and the second time was more local in Leeds.

Find it hard to believe anyone could make such an incredibly asinine comment.

...aaand we have a bite! try not to take online forums so seriously, it's not good for your health. enjoy the rest of your day

If you get one and don't like the W8 start screen/apps - get "start8" and "ModernMix" from Stardocks - USD $4.99 each. Best £7 you'll ever spend. Classic shell and the like can substitute for Start8 (although not as good in my opinion). ModernMix is the only thing I'm aware of that can tame the ludicrous full-screen "apps" and run them in windows. You can customise both to make your laptop virtually a Windows 7 clone, or to keep whichever W8 features you like.

What actual processor is in this, it only says Intel ULV 987/bga, that doesn't come up on Passmark?

I was thinking the same thing before I bought it - bit of research and turns out it will run fine, maybe nit so with 'bigger' games

It must be incorrect.
Intel spec sheet says 1.5GHz

Finally ordered after Tesco website would not accept card.

I just placed and order, total £251.10, but after payment went through the receipt shows the full £279.00 - anyone else had the same happen?

Yes it says that at the top of the order email but if you scroll down you get the full price. That is simply the product price.

Mine says £279 at the bottom too, no discount on it, even though it clearly said £251.10 when I clicked pay. Annoying phone call to Tesco in the morning to sort it out

My 11 year old son starts upper school in September. Would this be a good laptop for him as he will need one?

He'd be a lucky 11 year old to get one of these - but yes this would be a good laptop for him!
