It just mentions these below, I'm unsure about how good either of these pieces are, as they're where I have the least knowledge.

Damn, but their 5700xt isn't very good. In the end you save some money but nothing too big

Eh? If everything fits and the psu csn power it all nothing else matters i doubt theyd chuck a no brand psu in with a 5700xt. What does matter is the card. If its a noisy hair dryer then no no.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a build including OS that is capable of running fortnite for under £300 for the tower? My nephew is looking for one for Xmas as a first "gaming pc"...

Any advise would be appreciated.
XT/3600 PCs are dropping very fast. Reckon it'll hit £600 by the time the next gen of cards is out

I bought a pc from these guys in jan of this year. Can’t comment on this specific model but very happy with the customer service we received. The build I specified didn’t quite fit so they phoned and we agreed some changes. It then arrived within a week on the exact day I was told it was arriving.
Who on earth needs a computer with All Wheel Drive?

Well, a bad PSU with bad components can mess up your build on top of resetting your system randomly which can being other problems.

The 5700 xt they offer seems to be a hair dryer. With vat and everything, it'll cost as much as your own build. But at least they do it for you and won't cost you a fortune

Can get OS for like £10 on eBay.

not really, £500ish is a more realistic budget for a cheap gaming pc ( b350/450 motherboard, ryzen 5 2600 and rx 570, 2x8gb ddr4 3000).

You could try Ryzen 5 3400g builds i.e ebay.co.uk/itm…177 (with current 5% off under £300) but it isn't really a proper gaming computer. Make sure the system has dual channel memory ( important with Ryzen ) also bear in mind the experience won't be that great since details have to be lowered for a smooth frame rate (assuming we talk about fullhd resolution display).

If i had £300 only for gaming machine i would buy xbox one x

Thanks for the reply, I have been having a look and as you mention it's not easy for the price.. he is young and wanting to start using a pc, already has consoles (xbox one and switch etc) so my brother asked me to see if I could see anything cheap to just get him started.

I believe Fortnight isn't hugely taxing anyway, but with that budget I'd take a look at somewhere like itzoo.co.uk and get a slightly older gen Intel i5 set up for about £150 and add in a graphics card.......make sure it has a SSD hard drive and you'll be surprised at how well it performs.

Don’t get fooled by the free games in the picture. The offer ended ages ago!

Yep, I'm playing pubg at 60fps, on an i5 2500k, a r9280x 3gb, with 16gb of ddr3.

It's not the best by a long shot but it's still good enough to win with.

£300 though, just go 2nd hand.
I dont understand why the Ryzen 7s are cheaper than the Ryzen 5

Yep, it's their really naff naming conventioon!
Do you guys think is better to go for the Sapphire RX 5700 and save £10? I read that is much quieter and cooler than the AMD version, it's not XT tho.
Or maybe it's better to go for this one: hotukdeals.com/dea…325
It has a XFX 5700 DD. Don't know the difference though.

No. It's significantly worse than this deal. The PC in this deal will outperform that one by about 20% in games and bc of the extra cores on the CPU it will likely last longer before it needs an upgrade (the 7700k is a 4core 8thread CPU, the 3600X is 6core 12thread)

I'm guessing it's 2nd hand too (bc it's all old stuff)? Somebody is trying to rip you off so they can upgrade? That would have been worth about £800 2/3 years ago if you bought it new, not now.

The one from this deal or or

hotukdeals.com/dea…325

You're looking for a 3600X / 5700XT / 16GB RAM really. Those are the sweet spots for price/performance right now. You can get better stuff if you're desperate to spend over £1k but it's rapidly diminishing returns beyond about £800.

A decent £800 PC like the one above or the one I linked will play anything at 60fps+ 1080p on max settings right now. Bear in mind these are only for the tower, you'll have to buy a monitor seperately. A 144 hz monitor would be a good buy for him too if you really need to spend the extra cash.

The stuff that's better than the PC from this deal is only a few % better but cost a lot more even if you build it yourself.

The only Intel CPU better than the 3600X is the 9900K and that costs £400+ just for the CPU alone. All the more expensive AMD CPUs aren't any better for games, they just have more cores (so are good for video editing or programming, etc).

The only GPUs better than the 5700XT are the 2080 (£600) / 2080 Super (£700) & 2080 Ti (£950+).

techpowerup.com/rev…tml

So even if you buy the stuff yourself and build it yourself, you're going to be spending a lot more than £800 for a PC that's a few % better than this one.

I'd just get the PC from this deal and choose the following drop down options.

i.imgur.com/NQ4…png
Edit : I selected the 2060 here by accident, get the 5700XT

It's going to be hard to beat that PC for the price. You'd end up spending hundreds and not getting much faster in games tbh.

Up to you, depends how much space you want, you can get windows 10 keys on ebay for like £10 and install it yourself. You can get wifi dongles anywhere too.
39254375-ZQB20.jpg
How does this one look compared to the one on offer here ? Or is this a waste of money games wise
SeanDennisMaidment04/12/2019 13:27

2070 is similar performance to the 5700XT. Almost identical. You'd be paying nearly £500 for no better peformance.

techpowerup.com/rev…tml#

The GPU is the most important bit for gaming. Check this link and see the GPUs faster than the 5700XT. It needs to have one of those to be better for gaming tbh, but anything with one of those is going to be very expensive for just a few % extra performance.
