Amazing prices, wish this was for dates next year! BA Business class is brilliant, especially when you get a free upgrade on the way to NY like I did! Never happened since.....

That's Rio for you, however, you can get deals booking direct or as the trip would be 10 days, you can get long stay rates.

If anyone is seriously looking though, try the Hotel Novotel Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont ..... £106 a night for a double to accomodate 2 adults and 2 kids or £117 a night with breakfast. accorhotels.com

In all honesty though, 10 days in Rio is way too much, therefore I'd be inclined to take the flight, do Rio for no more than four days including new year, and visit Ilhe Grande, Bouzios, etc ..... In that case try the Mercure Botafogo Mourisco, available at £150 a night for 3 or 4 nights.

Lol..... Glad I checked out your link!

Stonking deal! Make sure you get to T5 at least 5hrs before the flight to enjoy the lounge, book an Elemis treatment and relax.

Wonder if this would be eligible for an Avios upgrade to F? For those thinking this is extravagance do it once and you will see it makes such a difference. I work my Avios and BA Amex to the max and it truly makes travel a pleasure.

Is it possible to do a bungee off the redeemer stautue

Always wanted to be Jesus' yo-yo

Would love to do this one time

I'd love to go there.

Crazy deal - You've be hard pressed to find a Business Class flight for that price over that distance. Hopefully some US destinations will pop up. Hot!

You can use the Avios to fly to other south American countries with LAN airlines.

Stonking deal!! Just booked TO. Thank you OP!

Flew flatbed in August to Rio with work and it is one awesome city. Stayed in Sofitel on Copacabana beach nxt door to Ipanema. The business service on the 11hr flight is as good as it gets (apart from first obviously) and a grand is a steal.

You'd struggle doing that. You'll only get half the avios while you're actually there, and by that time it may be too short notice to get a redemption ticket.

You also wouldn't know where you'll be until after you've arrived in Rio, meaning you'd be relying on decent hotels having last minute availability at a reasonable rate during the holiday period!

I would just love to do this as a one off experience. However we are booked to Spain but next year perhaps if they do it again. Voted hot

Good deal! out of my budget unfortunately.

link not working now. was working about 1 min ago

Also available to Canada, Mexico and other Brazil destinations

Holding out until June when I visit Brazil for the W/C but wont get anywhere near this price! HOT!

Brilliant deal! Would seriously consider this if I didn't have something at the beginning of January that I can't avoid. Voted hot.

amazing!!

Is anyone else having problems with the link? tried getting there on the BA website but cant seem to find the deal. snarf

nice

But spending £53 on a DVD box set of a series you could have watched/recorded/waited for a rerun for free isn't extravagant?
Edited by: "Mentos" 5th Dec 2013

Voted hot, of course, it's a great reduction.
But I would never spend any more than the minimum on any airfare. Even on a long flight. I usually travel to Tokyo, a flight of 12 or 13 hours. A days discomfort is worth it for the money saved on any business class. IMO

Good try, but I intend to buy this as a Christmas present for my brother in Thailand (who used to live and work in Denmark).

That of course is subjective.....Id happily spend a Grand on a flight if it was buisness class.

Only its not just a days discomfort...the jetlag takes a few days to get over and the body clock gets messed up if you dont get a decent sleep. At least the business class seats allow that. But I do agree with you that I would find it tough to justify the extra cost when the end product is exactly the same (ie you arrive at the same place) Probably true for the vast majority of people who use this site!
