BA Holiday glitch on Flight+Car (cheaper to fly business than economy) @British Airways

Alright, so I have to travel next week on business to Milan and I looked to book a flight. The price for the flight itself in economy class was £462, but since I needed a car, I looked for a flight+car.

Strangely enough when I was logged in with my BA Executive Member account, the prices was £874 for a flight (economy) + car

However when using a different browser and while NOT logged in to my BA account, I have got this deal which is more than £400 cheaper, and gives me BUSINESS class flight

It's the same flight and the same car type and it works out as cheaper to fly Business, so can't complain

Please note that once you searched in one browser, don't do a re-search as price

Worth for HUKDers to check if they need to book holiday/flights+car, as you can get a bargain.

To book the particular flight I wanted, without a car rental, was £462 in economy class. Here I got business class return + car for £450.

You can't get a return to Milan with BA for £200 for 3 people, even if you book a year in advance;-)
Doesn’t work on proper business class.

Nice deal. Note two of us flew in and out of Milan Bergamo with a car for four days back in September for £188 total.

It wasn't premium but the exit rows were empty and we moved into them 😃

You probably can’t but with other real airlines you can not the new “improved” BA though trying to compete with the budget airlines and making a hash of it as usual.

I doubt you booked with just 4 days to go, though. Prices of flights shoot up the closer they are because seats run low.

Anyway it looks more like the glitch is the price it is trying to charge you for the economy flight. It isn't anywhere near £882 if booked separately as shown in the first screenshot.

This is business class on European flights, they call it Club Eu

You are paying premium prices to book 6 days in advance they hike the prices massively after the cheap non-flexi seats have sold.

A quick look on Ba.

I know but proper business class isn't a better meal with no one sitting in between you. I was talking long haul which is proper business class not the normal Club Europe which is pay a fortune for very little difference. Good if you can get it at the same price or less but for the length of time you are in the air on European flights there is no way the extras are worth it over normal economy not with BA any way.
Good trick by BA. Showing a flight that's worth from £20 to £150 on economy as £800 and then offering £400 business which is achievable without any glitch or offer sometimes.

I've gone business class within Europe a few times and yeah, it's basically lounge access, plus drinks, and the same style seats - just with the middle one blocked out by a tray.

But if you're using Avios to book, it's still fun to do

BA isnt what it used to be, i came back from Nuremberg and was cramped with luggage under the seat and no food, worse than wizz air and wizz air is the worst.32754337-FnSPm.jpg

Somewhere an AI mind just melted.
Is this deal/glitch only for European flights? Just tried for USA and Premium economy was 2x price of Economy and Business even more money.

I agree Schnide, I had a companion voucher that was expiring today, so I did a return Club Europe to Barcelona last week, it was nice being able to use the Cathay Pacific lounge at T3 LHR, cooked to order noodles and Moët , a good way to use Avios!

Good question. What I do know is once you ran one search through the browser, you won't be able again to get the cheaper quotes unless you clear all the browsing history.

If you fancy a Premium economy to US, I suggest you to search for economy flights, and then see what it gives you at the search results (as you can always change there the flight times you choose).
A deals a deal and this is a good one!
Cold, neither cookie/history based pricing nor car rental packages being cheaper are glitches.

The first is a very common practice by all sorts of websites and very common in the travel industry, I am perplexed this is some kind of revelation to those frequenting a deals site. In addition to "browser" (cookie history), the device itself (type, brand) can also influence price.

Adding car rental or other options booked under the holiday section for a cheaper price than booked through main flight section is at best a "trick". This is a marketing/pricing strategy that has been there for years and part of BA's standard business practice.

Somebody should post about the "glitch" where you can reduce cost by part paying with Avios!

Sky News this morning are running a story about how poor they are now after a Which report stated them only just better than Ryanair and Vueling.
This is not new and not a glitch and the example is ridiculous. Over 400 for so called business to Italy?

When the economy costs £462 and you get a business and a car for £450, it's a deal. Like it or not, the purpose of publishing the deal is letting others to try and save money on their holidays, using the trick I just described, whether you book it a week or a year in advance.

Nope.. still can't get any deals.. Every option I try (with different browser) shows Business / club class about double that of Economy.

Need more details on how/where this deal/glitch will work.

First of all, try checking through your phone a price of economy. Then ensure you use a browser on your laptop in which you never browsed the BA site (if you browsed the BA site, please clear all cookies and cache from browser). Then choose economy flight + car through the browser on laptop, and see if the combo gives you a cheaper price than the individual flight, plus see if it will give you by default a business flight which is cheaper (you can always change the flight in the package).
Website is clumsy and very difficult to find a holiday for 5 for certain dates
