BA have a sale on business class flights to Beijing and Shanghai for £1009pp that ends today. You can also add a hotel which sometimes makes it cheaper than flights alone if you are only visiting for a few days. Example itinerary below for 8 nights

2897804.jpg

Deal not available over Easter/summer holidays.

If you book with a hotel you can also reserve for £300 and pay the rest off before travel.

For those that have a BA executive club you get about 16k avios pp (for blue tier) and 280 tier points.

Also worth noting you can do a multi city - fly in to Beijing and fly out of Shanghai.

Edit: As others have pointed out you need a visa if you're staying in China more than 72 hours. £64.50pp I think... chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng…htm

The visa prices in the OP are incorrect.

The price of a visa for China went up in Jan 2016.
This link details the current price. Single entry is £151

Plesee note that this is for one way.. Return will cost around 2.5k. plus …Plesee note that this is for one way.. Return will cost around 2.5k. plus taxes.Kindest regards.

It’s quite clear that this is a return flight
Note - It is available for some school Easter holidays... I priced up 2nd April (bank holiday) - 11th April for £505 each way yesterday...

Don't forget you also need a Visa (£151 per person) to stay in China, unless you are in transit (i.e. you can have a separate onward flight booked to somewhere else not in China (but it can be Hong Kong!), but it must be within 144 hours of your first arrival - there's a few rules and caveats, so please make sure you do your research!)
Then use MasterCard.

You need to search for dates, it's strangely not advertised anywhere. Also needs to be two people travelling together I think.
No longer £500 each way, cheapest is £649.

Is the 500 only for 2 adults travelling then?
Edit: Just confirmed prices are higher for 1 adult.

Visa costs £171 for 2 years. It's not possible to get a 1 year entry anymore. Not sure about shorter term visas.

Looks like it is £64.50pp based off of this for single entry chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng….ht
Great deal.
Cracking deal...well done OP!
BA are by far the worst airline I’ve flown with, poor seats, inflight entertainment and service. Not worth it even for business. It’s a shame what you would class as our ‘national airline’ has gone this way

If two or more are travelling together and have the same itinerary, for example staying in the same hotels and using the same trains when in China, then you can travel on a group visa. My wife and I did this last Easter and it cost £180 (£90 each) for the both of us booked via 5starchinatravel.com/gro…ina. The advantage of the group visa, besides the price, was the paperwork was simple compared to completing forms for individual visa applications, plus we didn't have to visit the Chinese Embassy. A disadvantage is it can only be used for one visit.

We travelled Business Class on BA to Beijing and back from Shanghai. Going out was fine but coming back I was throwing up in the toilet; my video screen didn't work initially for long periods; and my main meal was so heavily salted it was more salt than chicken... not a great experience.

Great deal - it's more than double in July.

Wonder if it's anything to do with this?

"Shanghai Weather in June

Shanghai steps into summer in June. The weather is hot and wet, really sweltering.

There is a Plum Rain Season from mid-June to early July in Shanghai. During this period, the rainfall often equals 25% of the city's annual total!

Sometimes, it rains really heavily; sometimes, it is clear and sunny. The weather in June is really hard to predict."

If I had a week's annual leave left I'd chance it though.

Hot/wet deal.
another note....make sure you join the BA Exec club when you book this as you get at least 15,000 Avios (enough for a Club Europe Return to Paris, Nice, Prague, Amsterdam...) plus the extra 1 Avios per £1 spent on BA holidays, plus 280 Tier Points.

I did business class once to Lanzarote from Gatwick about ten years ago. I was the only person in the business class cabin on the way there. On way way back it was just me and a newly married couple who got sh#t faced during flight. Cost £600 for the experience. It's a good story but the fun is in the details for these details I would need to write a small book. Don't confuse business class with first class they are two completely different things. Great deal though. Hot.

Ah okay. Wasn't sure if they still did single entry. The form still has 1 year options but you can't actually get a 1 year visa now.
