that would be the minimum test the saygovernment is safe by law, meaning it has to pass this to be safe.

I'd also suggest going rear facing for as long as you possibly can, this means 4 or 5 years old if you look around and get the right seats

Saw this at £34.99 but was not impressed - not enough padding, diffifcult/almost impossible to recline once fitted, poor quality etc. I wouldn't trust my kid in this and a saving of £5 is not going to change my mind. Infact, I wouldn't use it at all. It may meet the minimum standards but you want something comfy with adequate protection in case of a crash.

I suggest you read the Which link i provided

The Which? tests reveal big differences between child car seats. Some protect babies and children well, but others expose them to the risk of serious injury or even death

If anyone wants a copy of last years crash tests then PM me your email addy

As i said in my post i've been looking for one for a few weeks now and i'm quite happy with this car seat.

There is 3 different shoulder height settings for the harness, which is 5 point (across each shoulder, across the waist and between the legs) which i reckon should keep my son in the seat in the event of a crash. There is also extra padding around the head area which also can be moved to the correct height.

I've watched the Which video and both the seats tested just used the normal style seat belt in most front seats of cars ie across the waist and diagonally across the chest which i personnally wouldnt feel safe using with children, especially after seeing the crash test dummies being almost thrown out of.

Overall i'm very happy with the seat and as i said in the OP, if you read the reviews alot of other people would also agree.

Reviewers on Argos havent dont crash tests have they

Like i say its cheap for a reason, lets hope you never have to put it to the test

I have the Britax Evolva 2/3 Isofix (now called Kid) & the Britax Safefix+ Isofit

britax.co.uk/car…us/

britax.co.uk/car…ix/

i'm all for a good deal but there are some things i just wouldnt go for 'the bargain price' on and a car seat is one of them.

i have the britax evolva 123 which i saw on here reduced in mothercare to £110 a good few months ago, i also checked all the reviews on WHICH and their website to check if it was compatible which my car.

wether of not it matched my car's interior funnily enough never came into my criteria! I'd always go for safety regardless of price and as said, it's very cheap for a reason.

each to their own tho

not bad when used front facing

but didn't get on with it at all when using rear facing! difficult to get baby in / out etc

Still using the Graco Car Seat we've got that's rear facing until he's too big for that, then we'll be switching to this when we can use it forward facing.

I brought this car seat 6 months ago from Argos in pink for my 6 month old daughter, as she hated facing the back seats. This car seat is a VERY GOOD car seat, it reclines, it is padded, the strap pads are good enough. I do not know what everyone else is complaining about.
Even if it is the basic test for a car seat that it passed, it still passed them!
Great value for money and would definitely recommend. Am buying a blue one for my son.

I have this car seat and it's never failed on me. Cheap doesn't mean undependable, it's because it's the Argos brand.

had several crashes in it then to prove how well it is in a crash ??

and why drag up a 3 year old thread ?

Just found this thread. I wouldnt recommend this car seat to anyone! Ive had it 2 months, and its already become faulty. The arm strap is sagging as the holder will not tighten it as the metal has come loose in the back. Argos will not exchange as i cannot find the receipt. Disgusting if you ask me! Will NOT be buying from argos again, and will now be replacing my daughters car seat for a safe one.
