As an Asian man who has been sporting facial hair since I exited the womb - just kidding, probably from about 13/14 (bumfluff)

I've tried "budget" offerings (£30 or less) from the likes of Wahl, Babyliss and Philips and can say Philips seem to outperform the others in this segment.

The blades are sharper and not pointed so they don't cut your skin and they hold their charge pretty well. I trim my beard once or twice weekly and will get about a month of use on one charge - slow charging over night but adequate for my needs.

Wahl seems to be the cheaper and noiser one of the ones I've had. Felt very budget and was AA battery powered. Used it a few times then binned it.

Babyliss was ok but not as good as Philips - ended up putting it aside as my manscaping trimmer instead.

What’s this like for shaving pubs?

Pubs are shut mate. No point no ones going to see.
I got this last time it was on offer a few months ago.
Mines packed up already. Seems electrical as it's not turning on.
I've got the Philips version of this. Constantly on here. Not sure if it's on offer again. These are okay for do the hair. I've been using mine to tidy up my fade after using my wahl clippers, usually on the neck line

Thanks for posting, had been after one of these!
Some clippers are designed for body hair, beards or *ahem* garden topiary. If this is the case, they will only include combs for shorter cuts. It appears that the 1970s jungle style is not currently en vogue. This may not cope particularly well with the hair on your head...

£17.99 at B&M had loads of it in Leeds.
Thanks ordered for collection later, just beware argos is very slow at placing orders at the moment
I typed in "clipper" into the search bar on the Argos site this morning, and these don't come up for some reason
If they had I would probably have bought them, but there are at least 3 others that should be available for pick-up next monday so I ordered one of those instead and will stick with that choice
Just thought I would mention it as some of you might be doing the same thing as me, and it is probably better to go through the menus instead

The older ni-cd based one is very good. Mines going strong, whereas this newer lithium one died!.

They still had them in my local Asda last time U went shopping. They were less than £20. I can't remember the exact price. I don't recommend this if youre planning to use it on your head or someone else's hair. The combs are not design for hair but it works perfectly for treaming beards or mustache.
omg this is perfect for lockdown cant find a barber anywhere haha
well spotted, reserved for pickup at my local store
Nearly a tenner dearer than normal for one of these?.........is this covid tax?
This is not a good grooming kit
Babyliss for Men

Nah, just doesn’t sound right
now it's for £24.99

Any thoughts about Braun Beard & Hair Clippers? COSTCO have a 10-in-1 MGK7920 for £50 which is waterproof. I don't mind spending a little extra if an appliance is going to last.
cuts my hair fine. good product
Heat for the deal! My only reservation is the quoted 40 min run time. Imagine getting halfway through a hair cut and then having to charge it up for 3 hours...
itsduke13/05/2020 14:35

B&M Kirkstall, they had about 10 when I went couple of days ago.

Funnily enough...Kirkstall is my 'local'...
Was in there Monday...and Tuesday....when I was told they'd had no delivery for weeks!!
Perhaps it's personal...and the staff there just like to see me looking particularly ridiculous....!?

Heat for the deal.. I tried ordering at Argos several times but it fails with ' Your Order couldn't be processed online today '. Is that I'm the only one facing it!!!

Appears that Argos don't quite know how to say "Not in stock"....preferring "Limited stock"
All the "Limited stock" items I've checked, are neither available for delivery...or pickup (HaHa!!)
Does this get rid of earhole hair ?

Kindest regards

That’s a pretty good fade, looks professional
How do you do grades with this ie 1 2 3 4 is it easy ?

Thanks mate. Honestly the back isn't so good. But I cut the time to 20 minutes yesterday doesn't have to be perfect. To be honest, it is quite a good feeling doing it yourself... Especially since I get it done once a week... Paranoid secondary school teacher with grey hairs

Are these any good to cut hair ? Or wahl better ?
EdwardJamesReed13/05/2020 21:28

My wahl is a proper clipper with a taper. Maybe this will be sufficient for shaving it over a 1 or 2 for example. But for a more delicate haircut probably buy a dedicated clipper.
Paid £14:99 for mine in one of the supermarkets it seems to be the same kit that has lots of brand names to it.
