One of my favourite Sci-Fi series. Great price for this 42 Disc set.

In 1994, Star Trek had to take a backseat to a new kid on the block, science-fiction series Babylon 5, created by Michael Straczynski. In a nutshell, it's the 23rd Century and the Babylon 5 space station has become an interplanetary peaceful negotiation centre. Humans and aliens attempt to settle differences in a reasonable fashion here under the stewardship of President John J. Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner), which makes for some fantastical plot arcs throughout its five year run.

This stylishly compact yet comprehensive box set contains every Babylon 5 episode ever made, the series Crusade and all six Babylon 5 feature films with extras, plus the brand-new feature The Lost Tales, which has never been shown on television.

It's a good price, but I'm hoping this will eventually find it's way onto blu-ray.

on blu ray this will look awesome. I think season 4 is one of the best ever sci fi seasons

Excellent price, I paid quite a bit more and thought I had a bargain.
Great series. Some of the episodes you probably haven't seen in the uk aren't very good, but well worth the money.

I can't help laugh at the horror on the faces of first time viewers of this when they put in the first season for the first time. The wife and I actually were rolling around on the floor laughing. We still joke about it now.

As an avid sci-fi fan for my money Babylon 5 is the best sci-fi series bar none. The complete works for £55 is a ridiculous bargain. Ordered.

I never liked this that much but my mum loved it and with her birthday coming up this is perfect timing! hot deal!

Terrible acting, woeful sets, laughable special affects.

Yet there is just something about this that I love!

Have you watched the whole of Deep Space 9? I think Star Trek really learnt from B5 about story arcs and implemented it superbly on DS9.

It's crazy how much the special effects have dated; I remember thinking they were amazing at the time.

We didn't miss any episodes over here. In fact, Channel 4 was one of the very few broadcasters that showed the series in the correct order from start to finish, a lot of the American networks messed around with it. That's why you hear "Put me through to Channel 4" and such like through the series. Straczynski mentioned this at a con in Blackpool back in the 90's

Great series, and I wouldn't say Andreas Katsulas and Peter Jurasik's acting was terrible by a long stretch.

I'd never seen B5, had however always been a bit of a Trek/ Stargate fan. Discovered B5 a couple of months back because people on here were discussing this box set. I'm 6 episodes away from finishing watching all the episodes now and have loved it.

Never thought the acting was too bad - Mira Furlan certainly hadn't improved by the time she appeared on Lost!

But the something you love will have to be the characterisation and storylines. Both were fantastic, and although DS9 tried to emulate it, they could never quite reach the level of Season 4 (although that did have two seasons worth of storyline in). Not dissing DS9 - I like seasons 4-7, but they reach a par with Seasons 1-3 of Babylon 5. Season 4 still stands untouched against anything in my eyes.

I think he was talking about The Lost Tales, which I haven't seen broadcast, but are not worth making the effort to see.

Will agree about Katsulas (RIP) and Jurasik. Two great actors who shared some great moments and stories despite being bitter enemies.

Unfortunately, the special effect shots were rendered at SD resolutions, so unless somebody stumps up some cash for rerendering them in HD there will probably never be any blu-ray versions.

The special effects are dated but I gotta disagree with the bad acting criticism. The acting was OK and even amazing at times, especially Londo and G'Kar who I thought gave the best performances throughout the series.

Katsulas and Jurasiks acting is incredible - the story arc is what made this series and DS9 clearly picked up on this. Almost the best sci fi series ever but Firefly just pips it.....

Some of the acting was great (Londo, G'Kar), some was ok (Delen) but Bruce Boxleitner and the late guy who played the doctor were diabolical.

It was the story and characterisation that made this show so terrific.

Yes I agree. I also enjoyed Voyager. Still rate Babylon 5 higher though.
