All my friends used to have Apple phones but they got tired of all the expense and being locked in, and the lack of innovation, so they went to Android.

Keeps showing as just 1 in stock since the last 2 hours. So either the stock is not there or no one is buying it.

Nothing exciting for this phone to cost £500, so voting cold. Doesn't even have OIS for the camera.

Best phone I've owned if I'm honest. I've gone through a lot over the years but I got this as a stop-gap that would'nt lose money between what I thought would be my Xperia Z5 (which broke) and a S7/S7 Edge. Still using the SE to the day!

no jack, no innovation justifying the price tag... seriously the iPhone is on its way out like Nokia and blackberry before it...

Good price, but personally waiting for the 10th anniversary model. I would hope to see a bit more innovation with that one like we did when the 5s was replaced with the 6.

I don't think the iPhone will ever be on its way out! but that's your opinion! I think the new IPhone X in September the top model (if rumours are correct) will be Apples best phone in years!

It's the ease of use and built in familiarity that people like. A lot of owners aren't bothered about being ahead of the curve. We like to be the middle of the curve where things have been improved on instead of early and buggy.

Me personally I buy iPhones because:

Apples customer service/Telephone Support
Fast software updates
iMessage/Facetime
Resale Value
Genius Bars for any Issues
Apple Pay

These and the fact that Apple keep supporting devices via software update for 4/5 years no android phone does that even Nexus/Pixel (Google only supports 2 years)

1. Apple are not the only good phone company for customer service. Sony give 2 years warranty for example which twice as long as Apple and decent customer service too.
2. Buy a Google phone or one that's close to pure Android as possible.
3. WhatsApp does the same (amongst others now)
4. You only have to worry about resale value due to how overprice they are. Most other phones depreciation for similar spec is a lot lower, even with low resale value.
5. See point 1
6. Android Pay

By the way I have both android and Apple phones so non-biased. Each have their own good and bad points but I like the choice and customisability I get with Android.

Link takes you to grade A or am i missing something.

Not saying others like Sony, Google don't but they don't have shops to exchange or repair phones to walk into and get sorted straight away?

Owned a nexus 5,6 and 6p loved the pure android experience but battery life sucked on every one of them the Nexus 5 being a utter joke!

I use iMessage/FaceTime so I can use it on my iPad etc as well not just my phone.

I always by and sell phones on eBay/gumtree never ever buy direct from Apple and I never have to add much to upgrade, moved from 6s Plus to brand new 7 Plus recently for £65.

Currently using a Google Pixel because I prefer Android but I sneakily gave the iPhone 7 a spin for about 4 days a couple weeks ago (I'd bought it for my brother as a present but wasn't gonna see him until the weekend) before using my brother's old S7 Edge that it replaced (albeit with a smashed front screen) and here are my conclusions:

- Pretty much all high end phones are unbelievably similar these days; When it boils down to it, they all have great cameras and a fast when browsing the internet

- The iPhone feels way more premium than Samsung and Google's flagship offerings

- I don't play mobile games so I can't speak for gaming experience on these devices

- The iPhone 7 is the only phone hardware that has seriously impressed me since the Nexus 5X (yes, the plastic, small battery and poor camera having 5X)

- The iPhone 7's vibration engine (they call it 'taptic') is the most underrated feature of any modern smartphone

- The iPhone 7's sound quality from the headphone jack is unbelievable (with my Band and Olufsen H3 in-ears)

- The iPhone 7's lack of a headphone jack is actually more annoying than I expected

- The iPhone 7 has the best form factor out of all three devices I tried

- The curved screen on the the S7 is just plain annoying. Does anyone actually find it useful?

- Everything about the S7 and Touchwiz just feels, for want of a better word, oversaturated

- The Google Pixel really isn't significantly different to the Nexus 5X I owned before it. Approaching the upgrade as a lifelong android user ( Motorola Milestone 2 -> Xperia Arc S -> Nexus 5 -> Xperia M4 Aqua -> Nexus 5X -> Pixel ) it was a very very underwhelming change.

- Android Pay > Apple Pay; because it's far more convenient to access

- The iPhone's video capabilities are way better than any android phone going

- The Google Pixel is by far the most boring phone I have ever owned

- Android > iOS but they're still pretty much neck and neck in terms of functionality these days

- Android notification centre >>> iPhone notification centre

Taking another look at the waffle I just typed out, I sound fairly critical of my pixel. What I mean to say is that it's not a bad phone, just that most reviewers give it too much credit by calling it the best android phone ever made, even though it's hardware is mediocre and its software hasn't had any significant changes since Lollipop imo. Overall iPhone 7 > Pixel > S7 Edge because while Android is the superior OS, the iPhone is just a lot more impressive and a lot more fun to use.

Apple replace or repair your phone in store. Whatsapp doesnt work on Mac and iPad in the way iMessage can, iOS is superior to Android, it only lacks the features that Apple refuse to add in, not that it cant do them. A Galaxy phone starts of at the same price as an iPhone but plummets quicker than an iPhone.
Android needs more under the hood work and better hardware in phones, I dont want an S7 with a great screen but rubbish software and speakers, Pixel which is ugly with poor speakers or an HTC with superb speakers but rubbish camera. Apple pay is accepted in more places. iPhone is better at everything it can do, you dont buy a phone to stare at the homescreen but to use it and the apps on iOS are better.

I think you'll find IOS has plenty of issues upon each new release...

I manage large wifi networks. Apple devices account for 48-69% of devices depending on location. This is devices passing by, not just associating to the wifi.

Im sure they can, I'm just giving my reasons why it's the phone I use and why I prefer it to android phones which have all the bells and whistles like wireless charging, quick charging, quad hd screens etc first.

I'm no Apple fanboy, it's just preference what I will say is Google need to support software longer especially at the price of the pixel (2 years of major updates?) I've owned all the Samsung note phones, loved them but they are beyond useless for getting software updates out and security patches.

Plus to this day no Android phone I've ever owned (and I've owned a few) has got battery life to match the 7 plus, can't compare the pixel as never owned one but in comparsion to my previous nexus 6p which died around lunchtime everyday it's not even close.

Trouble is that's likely to be really pricey! latest rumours suggest a 7S and 7Splus which will be similar to the 7 and an iPhone Edition model with all the new tech which will be crazy expensive.

I have an iPhone 7 and a pixel and I like both for different things all thanks to benefits

I generally dislike Android, even though that's all I choose when getting a phone. I have an iPad Air for IOS usage. Recently Android is getting quite exciting with some amazingly well designed phones coming from China, I'm thinking Xiaomi Mi Mix, I also got to use a Xiaomi Mi Air laptop yesterday which I had to reinstall for a customer, as it was in Chinese, an excellent laptop. Huawei are also impressive in their choice of Kirin chipset and Leica dual lens system, (Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei P10). The S8 doesn't even interest me, even though it should have a nice design, Samsung have had too much of my money in the past and failed to deliver.

This post is not a dislike for IOS at all, just my opinion about the direction of Android and some of the stunning hardware on offer. You obviously have more choice with Android even though the OS has largely stagnated. The most impressive Android device I have is the Nvidia Shield TV, say what you like about Nvidia, they know how to support their hardware, their software updates are crazy good and keep on coming. Samsung on the other hand, once you've bought one of their handsets you can go do one if you want regular updates as far as they're concerned.

Yeah totally agree with your last paragraph, I love Samsung devices but their update process is quite frankly pathetic! god forbid any major security problem occurred cause you'll be waiting months or never before Samsung is getting the patch sent out.

I still feel burned by the Tab s 10.5 I bought that they never updated past Lollipop.

For me if you like Android get a pixel, nexus to be regularly updated cause as good as the other manufacturers are the whole fragmentation is a complete mess!

Interesting reading your comments. I own the S7, and have owned the iPhone 6 in the past as well various other Android phones. I love the iPhone video quality but apart from that Apple have stopped innovating as far as I'm concerned and the iPhone 7 is little or no improvement on the 6. This is a product from a company that produced amazing products once but has now gone stale.

Everything at the top end of the market is starting to become much of muchness but the one phone that HAS got me excited is the LG G6. Everything about it, particularly the feature set and usability just looks fantastic. That 2nd 120 degree lens is a killer feature for me as shoot alot of sports videos. That's definitely going to be my next high end phone and depending on the price of it, I may well ditch my S7 for it (S8 looks disappointing).

I'm looking at the Huawei P10, I'll take a downgrade on the screen resolution from the S6, (1080P versus 1440P) as it won't matter, the cameras and the chipset are what the P10 is about.

Edit: I just saw the P10 Plus, even better spec, it's on the list

Have a look at the Huawei P10, excellent chipset and camera, due out very soon. I can live with a 1080P screen. I toyed with the idea of getting a Sony XVs or XV Premium for the 960fps camera, but 5 seconds at 960fps, it's still a gimmick. The camera has a low aperture compared to the competition, but it still comes out well in DXOMark.

The P10 Plus looks even better, I just found out about it now >
