A copy of office is around £90 and that is main reason I just ordered. If you uninstall antivirus provided and install your own is fairly quick according to reviews.

i think for the price its very good. Even for basic tasks, I would recommend upgrading to 4gb ram though (from what I read, there is a single DDR3 1600mhz stick in there which is replacable up to 4gb). If I still had a spare 2.5ghz SSD, I would be buying this.

Ordered a week ago and still waiting for mine
Going to ring them tomorrow

does this mean i can use office on another machine? is it a key?

Bought last time round. Good little machine once the Kaspersky + Ashampoo software has been removed. Takes an age to do the various updates - windows 8.1 etc but worth the wait

As the owner of a Medion laptop, I would never ever buy one again no matter how cheap. Paid £350 for mine about 1 year ago, keyboard is crap, speakers are crap, screen in crap. False economy.

Will this be getting the new update of windows 8.1 released next week?

Should do windows.microsoft.com/en-…ial

Any tutorials on how to take the bloatware out like kapersky etc?

I just used the windows uninstall software - someone's bound to know a more thorough method, but it worked for me.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Frustrating at first, but (as others have said before) uninstall kaspersky and ashampoo and it does basic tasks well. Someone criticised it for not running some apps on the windows App Store, but once windows 8.1 was installed I haven't found one that won't install.

A cpu thats equivalent of a mid range pentium from 2008. Dont expect to be able to run an AV on this. Even windows defender will suck up 80% of cpu usage.

A version of MS Office without the benefit of Outlook / other pro email client/calendar?
And the next day collect from store option is actually next but one day collect from store: e.g. order prior to 5pm Thurs, collect after 5pm Sat. Didn't deter me though. Bought. Thanks OP.

what like is PC Decrapifier on this?

anyone used it?

Bought weeks ago when last on offer. Not bad little netbook, once had removed kasperksy, all ashampoo apps, and updated to 8.1. Then ran Ccleaner and de fragged. Bargain little pc

Great little netbook once sorted out. Removed kasperksy and ashampoo, then updated to 8.1. Then ran Ccleaner and de fragged. Runs great. Bargain little pc, what more could you want for the price. Touch screen is a bonus too

PC Decrapifier is a great tool to run on almost any new PC. Recommended.

See also my posts here about upgrading the memory and HDD - should tell you everything you need to know:

HTH.

Thanks for that hardware upgrade info - really wish I needed one of these, a bit of RAM, and SSD and you are still only just over £200. Personally I'd go for a clean 8.1 install, which is possible but fiddly (google). You may not be able to reinstall Office for free after that though (not sure if its a conventional install).

This size may also suit the Metro interface more, I've only used 8 on bigger screens where I have always ended up bypassing Metro completely. As this is the same size as a large tablet it may come in to its own.

Great Deal, thanks for the heads up !

Ordered Thursday promised collection in-store for later on Saturday.

Good deal but Medion is a pants company. You will put that 3 years warranty to endless use.

I think it's called irony. You should buy a 3 year warranty because Medion are reputed to be of low reliability............

oic, thanks

Our little one is starting high school in Sept. Would this be ok for her to do school work on? I take it you can save to the laptop and not just cloud? She won't do any gaming or anything like that - really don't want to spend a lot so this seems really good?!

has a 500gb drive for saving a lot of info too - you don't have to use cloud. Get rid of the A/V (put on MS security Essentails A/V instead) and other bits detailed in earlier posts and upgrade to win 8.1 free and all is good

Screen res not mentioned on asda but it's 1366x768

Good for you, no doubt loads of people think you're crazy, but I think it's a good educational toy!

That is worth it just for the Office Home license

I can't believe this price. Tempted to replace my current 10 inch. It is listed at £275 on the Medion site

Show us urgently such a reputable low reliability report(s).

Quite. That's why it's irony. As far as I know Medion are no worse or better than most makes but people often make unsubstantiated claims they can't verify when pushed. But that's people and that's life.

Incorrect on so many levels. The model being sold by ASDA at £149 is nearer £215 on Medion's site. Compare the various configurations here:

Deffo agree - strongly suggest removing this software and upgrading to 8.1. Juat be patient as it takes a loooong time!

Dont understand the comments re reliability. I'm currently using a 7 year old Medion laptop and also have a 4 year old Medion netbook. Had no problems whatsoever with either of them.
