Fantastic bank. Never had any problems with them. Great service and products. Well recommended from me.
For the record HSBC and first direct are the same company. The customer service teams are separate, so if it’s the customer service you don’t like with hsbc fair enough, but just bare in mind it is the same company

Money super market exclusive. So click the link
I left NatWest for them and never looked back. I was aware I could get a 100quid if I left them after 6 months but was ( and still am) too happy.

Looks to be £100 not £125 unless the link given is not correct?.?
Does anyone know was a customer, sometime ago but closed account. Are you still eligible as never got any bonus from them?
I've never actually had a current account, I opened a plain old account with Halifax aged 10 and still have the same account now 25 years later, so I don't suppose I'd qualify since I'm not switching a current account.

I also only have that one bank account, I never really got why people have more than one. What am I missing?

Will have to call as I’m not sure I even qualify with not having a current account.

The only thing I can complain about this bank is that it seems to take a while for transactions to show up.
But every time I’ve had to phone it’s been within two rings and the customer service is excellent

I think you have to go through money saving expert that’s what I did and received £125
I have a joint bank account with my wife, she was with HSBC within the last couple years.

Would we still get the £125 for switching to First Direct? Currently with Santandar
Can’t see anything saying about “2 direct debits must be switched etc”...anyone know?

That's why I have gone HSBC, take the money and will then switch to first direct, maybe bia Halifax!
Thanks, op. Did this a few months ago. A bit long winded, and quite a few calls, but eventually got there, and £125 paid quickly. Can't open savings account until current account is up and running, but then £300pm @5%.
If you choose to leave after 6 months, you get £100 for leaving BUT be aware that you must have been paying £1000 pm for six months, to get this.
Best bank out there by miles. Always keeping a security eye out for you too. Forgot my bank card today when went to Tesco. Put three apple pays through in five minutes. Bank phoned to ask was everything okay. Brilliant service in my opinion.
Been with First Direct just under 23 years - best customer service of any bank or financial institution I've dealt with. Change all of my other services practically ever other year - esp. insurances.
Few years back FD called me to let me know that they were giving me an 'anniversary present' of £25 for being a long standing customer. Also looked after me when all my cards got lost just before Christmas years ago.

Completely agree with other posters about FD keeping a security lookout for you as well - they do.

Just need to switch and pay in at least £1000 within 3 months to qualify. No need for any direct debits.
Thanks

As long as neither of you have been with first direct before you would get the £125!
You can switch from hsbc to first direct and qualify
What's their mobile app like? I'm with NatWest and their app is brilliant, not sure if its worth leaving them for £125...

I'm the same, the Natwest app is perfect.

I've applied for the account - do I have to start the switch straight away to get the £125 or can it be in a week/month?

Have you seen Halifax’s trust pilot reviews though? (I’m in the same situation as you and considering switching from halifax)

Switched to them last year, definitely recommend.
I can honestly say they are a brilliant bank. This bank sets its self apart with excellent customer service. Two rings you are straight through and they sort anything there and then- no being passed from department to department.

What is current account defined as then? Usually most current account deals require a minimum dd coming out the account. I've fulfilled this requirement for another account already and the deal I'm getting with it hasn't ended yet hence not looking to chance, though I have a different account that no DD come out of perhaps I could switch that.
Is the tldr open an acct, transfer 1k to it and then close it in 6 months for a free 125?

Not sure of the official definition of a current account but personally I have a current account for direct debits/bills etc. And I have a current account that I use to spend with me debit card.

I guarantee you though that no direct debits are needed to meet the criteria to get the £125 (as long as you switch and pay at least a grand within 3 months)

Thanks for posting. Heat
Customer service with these is just awesome!
Never understood the hate for HSBC, they have had good banking systems and apps for years, when other banks have failed, always reliable and efficient. Mortgages have always been on the money and as a reliable lender the vetting process is a little stronger than other banks
That said I could tell u the balance and I never go overdrawn to incur charges
