Good find takes a lot to get the bidding cheaper on eBay so good buy it now price

Appears to have a US-layout keyboard and will require user to supply AAA batteries rather than the preferable inclusive USB-rechargeable option, but otherwise seems decent for the price.

Just ordered. Nice find

Not bluetooth

I think some may prefer AAA batteries because the rechargeable ones that are supplied inside these types of keyboards usually fail early

Conversely, the rechargeable type is often old skool Nokia so plentiful and cheap

Actually replaceable battery feature is much more desirable and better than charging via USB.
much easier and never have to look for USB cable and wait for it to charge when you need it.

Can this work with Phillips android TV directly?

They all take both types of batteries, just some come with the rechargeable ones

Why mess about with one of these, wouldn't it be easier to just buy a cheap USB keyboard?

Good question... waiting for the reply

Do I bite and get for this price or stick with my wireless mouse?

Had 3 of these in the past and they all developed the same fault (cursor would move on it's on and light on keyboard constantly flashing as if I was pressing something).

Returned first 2 and threw out the 3rd.

Maybe I'll try the eBay link (thanks kriss57) and see how much I can get off asking price

No they don't, the most common only use a proprietary rechargeable like a phone battery.

USB cable would be found hanging from a USB port normally, you know, since you need the receiver plugged in for the keyboard to work.

Bit bigger but I've had my Logitech k400 for years now, maybe 5?
Even washed the dongle part in the washer. Thing gets through a fair bit of punishment. Used it on a media pc for 2 years, laptop for one and in the field as an it engineer for another year.
Little guys a fighter!

Tho dunno is current gen is any good, mines gen1. I know gen2 had some android issues but was fixed in gen3.

-edit 2011 I bought it for £20, with a free mouse too.

Edited by: "rvcshart" 20th May

If you pay in $ via paypal, which you would probably use anyway it comes out at £5.56 GBP
Not much of a saving, but its a bit

I've had two of these. Both virtually useless unless you're within a meter of the receiver.

I don't know what you mean by "directly" but I use my Rii R8 mini keyboard by plugging the usb receiver into the back of Philips Android tv. It works perfectly.

One of the comments made on item from ebay link below re Android TV:

Works well - Great Price
I recently bought an android tv box which works well but only has a basic remote.
I bought this keyboard to use as a remote.
I wasn't sure it would do what I wanted but for less than £6.00 delivered I thought it was worth trying.
I am not dissapointed, it worked well straight out of the box allowing me to easily control all functions of the box.

I have something similar for my Android box. Works really well. Having a keyboard to enter text is reason enough to get one of these.
Mine came with a rechargeable battery, but if that ever gets knackered, the remote will take AAA batteries, too - perfect, IMO. The battery charges by micro-USB, so I just leave a cable plugged into the TV's spare USB port, and I never have a dead remote.

The range is fine - I can sit anywhere in my room, and the signal reaches. The button has stuck once, but switching the remote off and then on again fixed it (although, I know that others do have problems, including pressing several keys, but only one key actually responds onscreen).

It's light, it has a touchpad, it has a left and right mouse button, it has shortcuts, it has a nav-control, it has a volume control - if you get one with no problems, these are really good. If you watch your TV with the lights on, then go for it. If you watch in the dark, then you'll probably be better of with the backlight version.

Phew!
