Are these microwavable? Be a good idea for work

Asda's own 'Smart Price' potatoes are nearly half that price - just 57p for 2.5kg.

A potato is just a potato, and so even 'brand' snobs can't turn their nose up at that deal - maybe I should post it separately?

[Edit - and they were all medium/large baking potato size, as well]

69p in Lidl I believe

Last time I bought Tesco Market Value potatoes they were 58p for 2.5kg and were all a decent size, although I can't find them on the website anymore!

69P in Aldi

Aren't all potatoes?

Microwavable potatoes?

That has got to rank (pardon the pun) up there with microwaved eggs or bread.

I have to disagree. My wife picked up a bag of Smart Price potatoes last week and they looked pretty poor with a couple of green ones thrown in.

Also, I grow potatoes and like most home grown produce they taste much better than those from the supermarkets so there will definately be better varieties between brands.

I'm not saying that 57p is not a bargain or that you shouldn't buy Smart Price stuff (we buy a number of Smart Price products each week) just pointing out that the Smart Price potatoes won't taste the same or be as good selection as more expensive potatoes.

I've bought 2 bags for the 2.5kg for 69p from Aldi yesterday to test. I'm having problems getting hold of decent potoatoes. I like to make chips but I notice the cheap potatoes do not become crisp like good quality potatoes. I've had some potatoes that when fried are crisp, but if left for 5 mins become all soggy. I've tried quite few different ones and have found this.

Does anyone know any cheap potatoes that make good chips???
