If your Xbox One is buckling under the strain of Overwatch or Doom, and installing one more game is finally going to tip it over the edge, it's probably time to buy an external drive and gain some much needed storage space.

This post contains the best prices available for each drive from all the major retailers. This should take all the pain out of tracking down the best place to buy, whether you're looking for a very specific drive, or just want the best price per GB.

I've deliberately excluded deals that are limited availability, or store-specific. Every product & price in the list is a nationwide deal, available to order online or pickup from a store.

The lists are in capacity/price order. In brackets you'll find the retailer and the code to paste into their website's search box to find the drive.

The 2TB portable is a great price!

Can this drive be used out of its enclosure?
Have a quick look on Tesco Direct with the £10 off a £75 spend, the WD my passport ultra 2tb comes out at £65, so is the Seagate game drive for Xbox.
Also the 2TB WD wireless portable is available for £139.
hot for the great effort!
it's hot from me
amazing effort to get all this together
loads of heat
thanks
Respect for the effort!
do seagate hardrives fail early ?
Cold. No 3 par 5 x petabyte flash storage arrays...

Yes, it's the drive of choice for PS4 replacers too.

do seagate hardrives fail early ?

3TB Seagates have a higher than normal failure rate after a couple of years, but thats still not as high as the rumours seem to display.
Brilliant post! On the search for a few externals for backup needs so will be keeping an eye out to see if the bank holiday brings any bargains as unfortunately nowhere near an asda to grab one of the discounted drives
Heat added for the effort...but they're standard prices.

Only the faulty ones.
Bought the seagate 4TB B017KE8OG0 HDD for my PS4 a week ago, now its come down in price Still well worth it.

Quick note to anyone wanting to upgrade their PS4, The form factor of the drive inside is very high, possibly around 15mm. Its twice the height of a regular 2.5" disk.

It does fit into the PS4 and work perfectly, but you will need to remove the Hard drive tray completely and will need to unscrew some screws on the metal frame in order to fit it in. Whilst your at it, might as well replace the thermal paste.

Now that the frame is up slightly, the top sliding panel above the HDD will not longer clip on, but sits on fine. Since i dont move my ps4, it doesn't bother me.

It is very easy to remove from the external caddy, you're more than likely to break the clips but is perfectly usable for the 500GB disk that came with my PS4.

loads of space, time to play some more overwatch.

It is slightly cheaper on ebuyer - Ebuyer link With standard 5 day delivery for free. Only 2 quid cheaper, but may help if you don't have prime?
Just a heads up that one of the prices listed above has changed since the OP put this up.

2TB - £64.67 - Samsung M3 (eBuyer - 584735) -- This can be bought at Amazon UK (B008PABFX8) now for £62.92

Supplied by WIGGhoff Retail INT. They also have very cheap 5TB seagates and 3TB portable Toshibas. Slow delivery - All looks a bit dubious to me.

Argos have 4TB Desktop Seagates for £90.
There was a bunch of Western digital refurbished drives going for a song on the WD store operated by digital River recently. Not are if they are still available but worth a punt as you can download again if they fail.
Any NAS drives on sale ?
Anyone seen any deals on 2TB 2.5 inch laptop drives?
5tb for £90.34 with 13 available but not fulfilled by amazon, worth a shot? amazon link

Yes, it's the drive of choice for PS4 replacers too.

Thanks
If you're after a simple 4tb external desktop drive, the 4tb Seagate expansion is only £90 at Argos, plus you get a £10 vouche.

Argos has the 2tb portable in red or black, (blue is an extra £5! oO) for £59.99 at the moment. The £5 gift card effectively brings it down to Amazon price if you've something else to buy.
