It is legal to use a radio whilst driving. Assuming you're paying due attention, I believe.

It's increased in price from £7.63 a week ago.

What’s the range on this? I imagine if you used it within a car the range would drop off massively?

when youre in the hills and have no reception then these things are more reliable, it is also quicker and easier than calling, they are simpler to use and more robust, all of these are reasons the services use radios.

So the answer is: you'll need a license unless it's one of the designated UK frequencies. Need to know what frequency this works on!
