Why people hate Baofeng radios, being cheap there allowing unlicensed novice users into the hobby which ham radio users don't want. I don't blame them for wanting to protect there hobby.

I hate to disappoint you but the vast majority of Amateur radio operators are former CB radio users. Any operator on the amateur radio requires a licence so this deal will not help unlicensed operators into the hobby.
They are crap...They are cheap...That bit's true.

This Baofeng is suitable for amateur & it's on Amazon Prime in the UK...I posted it the other month with a larger battery..It's £29.99 & not much more than this deal but a trillion times better for anyone wanting to become a radio amateur.

Not wanting to get into a flaming argument or anything but why is the one you have posted better? Apart from 'larger battery' what else is a trillion times better? Genuine question.

This model of Baofeng is even better...The BAOFENG GT-3TP...It's more powerful & within the full power output for a novice licence holder....It's known to drop to £29.99 on Amazon at time which makes it an absolute bargain for anyone licenced to operate it. amazon.co.uk/Bao…3TP

Cheers mate.
o0OPs correction. It drops to £34.99 & dual band on this means it operates on 2m & 70cm
I don't hate these specifically (it's quite remarkable what you can get if you're an enthusiast for so little money) but I do very much dislike that fact that anyone can and do buy these often without any knowledge they need a licence to use them. Many don't care but when these interfere with legitimate radio users it is a problem. What's worse is Amazon sell them and people assume if they're on Amazon then they must be fine to use.

And when the blurb says, "Suitable for hotel, working site communication" that's not an unreasonable assumption. People would think they're buying PMR.

Years ago you could listen in on police and mobile phones etc, now they have gone digital/encrypted it is not possible, years ago when I was a teenager I used a realistic scanner I purchased from Tandy for about £70, I could listen to police forces from all over the northwest, listed to some very good police pursuits, you could also listen to them talking to the police helicopter India 99, I could also pick up the Vodafone network and listened to people's phone calls, plus local peoples cordless phones.

I did hear that police radio went digital now so is impossible to listen in, I'm sure there is still a way to listen to mobile and local phones around you though i.e the neighbors next door haha

Sorry I took it to mean all Baofeng radios. My 2 youngest kids have 888's, my eldest daughter has a uv5r (sat her Foundation when she was 11) & I have a uvb6. The radios only get used for messing about at the caravan and have lasted well.
