Deposit it in savings bank and get higher interest.

I am not getting it. A deal posted by me just after this which has 0.1% interest higher than this one is on more heat than this lol. Or people dont like barclays?

Are you able to balance transfer to a bank account? Otherwise how do you transfer to a savings account?

I have a mbna card. I will ask barclaycard to pay off my MBNA (which is zero balance) Then mbna card will be in credit. Once it is in credit its your money and ask them to transfer it to you bank account. I have done this many times.

Cheers

Good workaround, if they don't directly transfer to bank account.

How does this work ichayan? (I've never had an MBNA card and had a quick look on their website, but don't understand how you'd do what you're saying).

Thanks,

Have you got any other credit card? Imagine you have a credit card with say xyz card with say £2000 limit and its all paid off and its in 0 balance

Stage 1
. Apply for this card and tell them you have say £3000 balance on your xyz card. They will transfer the amount you requested in this scenario £3000 to xyz card.

Stage 2.

Your xyz card is in +ve balance of £3000.00 its your money ask them to tranfer it to your bank account direct transfer or cheque. (worst case close xyz account they will have to pay you before they close it.

Thanks ichayan! I didn't know you could make up an amount to be paid and they would pay it, I thought they talk to the other bank/card issuer to verify the amount.
I guess this doesn't work with cards that won't allow you to pay more than you have outstanding on the card - e.g. my existing Barclaycard won't let me pay off more than I am in debt, i.e. not pay off more than bringing my card to £0.
I take it MBNA does allow you to do that. I will try this as it's a good way to get a small amount of money relatively quickly.

The only thing stopping this getting hotter is the repayments:

"Greater of 1% of balance plus interest, 2.25% of balance or £5"

So basically 2.25% if you wanted to transfer a decent amount.

Thanks ichayan, might try the RBS one.
