Ok bear with me, i'm not even sure if this is allowed.... but I'm sure quite a few of us have businesses considering the number of izettle / sumup posts....but let's say you have a business barclaycard, they're currently offering customers 3% cashback on fuel.

Link is to the terms and conditions.

Only valid in certain fuel stations including Asda, BP, Co-op, Esso, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Shell, Tesco and Waitrose. (They also say "including many others" but then don't specify where those many others are -- helpful).

Mods, if business stuff isn't allowed my most humble apologies but I think I might be using my business barclaycard for a few ehm personal expenses for a bit.

It’s only paying out on fuel purchased between certain dates?

3% cashback on automotive fuel spend from 11th September 2019 until 31st October 2019”

Anyone can advice on a similar card for non business owners please? Voted hot.
Is this a temporary offer and likely to be short term ?
Also, does the 3% go back into the company, or can you get it put into your own account ?

I am forever filling up my car with the company card, so this would be ideal. Heat added

Oh, ignore my questions above, I clicked the link and they answered them for me... It would have been so much quicker than writing a question if I'd only done that in the first place.

You would have to buy an awful lot of fuel in the next 5 weeks to make this a worthwhile deal.
Bet it wouldn't apply when paying to charge an electric car.

The card would be in the name of the company. One would assume that the 3% cashback would go against the outstanding balance on the credit card. It's not really something you can draw out of the company, you don't physically get the 3% in 'cash'. If you drew the 3% cashback from your company funds, you'd have to make sure it was covered by salary, dividend or a sufficient credit on your director's loan account.

Santander world elite.. i get 0.5% cashback on everything and there are always offers on.. for example 10% off co op spends...

There is a 15 a month fee, but you get loads of extras like free access to airport lounges etc..

Well worth it if you spend alot or travel alot.

yeah you only need to be earning £90,000 a year to be able to pay in the £5,000 a month required to be a santander select customer which is required to get that credit card and has another £5 fee a month so you'd be paying £20 a month or £240 a year.

American express gold has pretty much the same benefits, membership rewards for every £1 spent which can be exchanged for many things like Amazon vouchers, it has lounge access too and many retailer offers and for the first year there's no fee at all then it's £140 if you don't cancel it after a year... much better than Santander £240.

Amex gold not good for me as you only get 2 lounge visits per year, also I got rid of the select account and you can still keep the credit card open. If you spend to get the cashback each month it offsets the fee. But if you don't use the airport lounges then probably not that good you're right

fair enough but most people don't earn enough (myself included) to open the select account in the first place to be able to close it later. You're right about the lounge access .. if you fly regularly. For me twice a year is fine as that covers my main family holiday. Just throwing out another option since many people won't meet the eligability to go for the santander one.

It's not the fact it's free money as you say, it's the big hit on credit file history if you apply for yet another credit card.
Basically is it worth it for such a small amount of cashback over 5 weeks worth of fuel? unless your business uses £1000+ a week which mine doesn't I can't see it being worth it.
Personally I have as little as possible credit searches done because one day I may really need an important loan and don't want to ruin my chances of getting it by silly credit card offers like this and lenders maybe thinking I'm relying on finance to survive.
If I were to recommend a credit card it would be a zero interest balance transfer card over as long as possible time.
