Barclaycard Platinum Travel Credit Card - no fees abroad, plus NO interest on cash withdrawals for 56 days

28
Found 4th Apr 2017
Absolutely no fees on foreign spending or cash withdrawals until August 2018

56 days interest free on purchases and cash withdrawals

Arguably a better deal than Halifax clarity which charges interest from the moment you withdraw cash

Only downside is visa exchange rates slightly worse than MasterCard

I've just used this in Cambodia,

Vietnam and Singapore and worked perfectly.

Note - contactless does not work abroad for security

Do you have any comparisons of the difference?
Yes, with Clarity you pay interest, but I normally pay a day or two after withdrawing.
Example, withdraw €120 (currently around €1.16 - £1) and pay £100, the fractions are minimal.

I guess its convenience too - whilst travelling you might not get the opportunity to pay off the clarity card straight after withdrawing cash

with Barclaycard you've got piece of mind of knowing its interest free for 56 days

comparisons of what?

Comparison of the exchange rates.
How worse is it? I'd imagine marginal?

This is well worth having alongside the Mastercard. Doubles up as a very handy spare. Any cashback anywhere?

is this a different card to a regular Barclaycard platinum? it looks the same as my platinum from the picture but will I have to apply for a different card to benefit from these perks?
Is there a minimum earnings requirement to apply for this card?

Not forgetting its only better than the clarity card until August 2018 assuming the clarity card stays the same after then.
Don't do it. Their customer service is so poor and rude that I've switch my accounts.

It's not an up to - you're simply getting the time you get on all credit cards to pay the statement balance in full, but also on cash withdrawals abroad which is unique

I just used visa and MasterCard websites to get a quote?
About bloody time but no notification at all
Looks good. I guess you can use this for ATM withdrawals and others (e.g. Clarity) for purchases.
Interesting, but I already have loads of cards I rarely use!
I've found Revolut (MasterCard based) is brilliant for holidays. no foreign transaction fee, and get the exchange rate at the time of purchase.

I agree only drawback is £200 per month limit on cash withdrawals

Isn't Creation "Everyday Credit Card" a better choice ?. It's a MasterCard and has no ATM fees. Also low APR.

Exactly....if your statement is drawn the day after your transaction, you only get 30 days.

"Maximum 56 days from date of transaction for new purchases and for non-sterling cash withdrawals if you pay your main balance and any monthly purchase plan payments (if you’ve taken out any purchase plans) in full and on time each month. "
