please check reviews of the sites before buying is all i can say..

Even if it was free this should still be cold

Review's indicate like a trip to a war zone

It really is a war zone! There was a "Mass Brawl" at the Southport one on Easter Sunday! Pontins mass brawl - man bailed after Southport fight I booked one last year before reading reviews and after a bit on a fight with Pontins they cancelled it and refunded me. We ended up having a lovely week at Butlins Minehead instead.

I visited the one in Hemsby a few years back, all i can say is OMG !
its an insult to pigs to call it a pig stie.
if i listed all of the problems and faults i would be here all morning.
Pure poo hole

I knew it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea when I posted it lol! Still, might help someone on a limited budget out? Where else can you take the kids for a weeks holiday during the school holidays for under £200? I would be interested to know, as I'd certainly look into that :-)

i sort of agree ? Yes it does sound cheap at £200 for a week, but at the same time its cheap for a reason ?
I know my kids would prefer me to give them £100 each to go shopping ?
On a very tight budget i honestly would sooner go camping or a couple of day trips rather than waste my £200 at a Pontins.
Thank you for posting tho as im sure, like you said, it will help someone

wouldn't touch Pontins with a barge poll. Save your money and go somewhere half decent.

Whilst i agree these camps are grim due to the outdated accommodation , younger children will still love it as there is lots of entertainment and activities for them.

Do you really think your children would rather go camping with little to do other than go on country walks . Or would they prefer trampolining, quad biking , playing in the pool on pool inflatables , watching illusionists, doing party dances etc etc

I stayed in Prestatyn, never again!! I'm surprised we never caught anything the rooms were that bad!
Go armed with plenty of bleach.
If u don't mind filthy dirty rooms the entertainment for the children was good.

Yes Pontins is ****hole but where else could you get 7 nights accommodation for 4 people for in August for anything near £200? For just under £29 per night, you get a bed in a relatively clean. warm and dry accommodation with a bathroom and full cooking facilities.

We are going with the Sun and know what to expect (Urghh) but again at £92 for 4 nights (we upgraded our room & included bedding), we could not find anything comparable (long gone are the days of £10 per night Travelodge rooms).

thanks for the post OP ....but i must tell people what i know
we took the grand kids to pontins at southport a cpl of years back...worst place ive ever stayed.my wife went as a child some 40 years back and she said its never changed in all that time apart from a zip wire they now have.......it really was dated beyond belief.

We went to Brean sands last year after booking first then reading the reviews afterwards. We expected the worst but really enjoyed it. The chalets had been redecorated and the only trouble there was was a drunk domestic dispute between a husband and wife that ended in a punch up.

I took my family to Southport last August bank holiday and to describe the place as a tip is being generous. Timmy Mallet was good though

what a load of s++t they should bulldoze the lot

£199 spent to encourage them to continue to sell this crap?
we went twice..yes can you believe it? 1st time we stayed as our kids would have been heart-broken to go home. I slept on top of the bed which was a throw-back to the 60s...the carpet was same era!
We had paid for half board and i couldnt eat in there..not because the food was bad but the faeces all over the toilet walls kind of put you off..staff didnt speak ANY english so a complaint was a waste of time..

2nd time was a free weekend offered found it on here..thought 'what the heck' maybe they have improved worth a shot..hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa the joke most def on us.

You want a pool use your local pool or go somewhere nice for the day..a spa with your kiddies not this ****. Wipe your feet when you leave x

I stayed at the Southport Pontins a few years back in a chalet and it wasn't the end of the world, you get what you pay for and its what you make it. If you turn up with a **** attitude you'll have a **** time, if you turn up and say it was dirt cheap and I'm with my family/friends for a week, then you'll have a great time.

Staying in a dump is never going to give you a great holiday regardless of your attitude or the people you are with. Keeping the place clean and maintained should be their TOP priority! As for getting what you pay for I have been to Butlins Skegness and Minehead for around £200 for a week the last couple of years and their campsites and facilities are brilliant compared to Haven and Pontins and somewhere I would highly recommend. Don't waste your money on Pontins people! Stay patient and do your research. You can find good deals at much better holiday camps.

I totally take on board what you are saying....but could you please tell me where you can get a weeks holiday during the school holidays at Butlins for £200? I have checked the Butlins site for Minehead and the cheapest I could find was £909 in August for a Standard Room Only(No kitchen). I am definitely interested to know where you are getting your £200 school holiday breaks from....do tell....

Yep sure. They are on the Butlins website and were all late deals. Best deal I had was for a week at Bognor Regis over the August bank holiday. They are there it is just if you are patient and check back daily.

2 tips for visiting pootins.
1. wring mattress out before sleeping in someone else's wee ... or worse.
2. wipe feet when leaving the caravan.

Stay away. My parents were there when all the trouble kicked off just a couple of months back and the accommodation wasn't up to scratch even though they upgraded! Place needs a complete overhaul.
