Bargain flights from Ryanair from Leeds Bradford to Gdansk during school holidays for less than £46 return. Visit beautiful Gdansk and/or explore further up the coast to Sopot/Gydnia with its beautiful large sandy beaches. Flights out 8th August return 15th August but plenty of good priced options throughout August as well. Area highly recommended on Travelzoo and Guardian websites. Visited both towns last year and going back again. Good fast train links between Airport and both towns. Plenty of reasonable accommodation options through usual channels.

If You never been in Gdansk, it's a must, at this price on that date...great cities, fantastic weather, lots to do and most importantly-safe! Go for it
This is one part of Europe in which you won't feel like your in Africa or the Middle East.
Why would you go anywhere else when we are having all the sunshine in England?
The great British summer isn't it?

Sopot is meant to be beautiful. Good find for the school hols. Exchange rate for the zloty isn't bad either. Good be a great value summer holiday.
Gdansk and Sopot are lovely, as are many Polish towns and cities, but Gdynia, not so much....
Sopot in Poland is like Brighton in a UK.

Beautiful, touristy and posh place. I love it!

Pomerania is beautiful and historic. Definitely worth a visit.

Gdansk is a lovely city and you are able to visit Sopot for the day as it is only a 20 minutes train ride away.
Went here last year. Really nice place, extremely cheap!
Might visit, are they as rude as they are here though?

Gdansk is absolutely beautiful, there is 7 beaches just in Gdansk not to mention few more in Sopot and Gynia. You can take a water tram from Gdansk through an open sea to go to the place called Hel
stay there on the beach for a day and come back in the evening tram. The food is lush and Pueblo in the city centre is the best Mexican I ever had. And the desserts.... don't get me started on that. If you can go,don't hesitate as you'll love it

If you dont act like a typical Brit in Kraków you are likely to be treated good.

im not sure about your reasoning..your probably having a delusion.
people want to earn more money..why do you think eastern europien move to western Europe?..almost all the immigrants want to end up in western Europe for a reason

What's a typical brit? What if I am a brit? Is that wrong? I was reading an article a few years ago that said "don't think the poles are rude, they're just being polish". So why did you just comment on me being british and assume that's something bad?

So if we accept poles for who they are what makes you think its ok to say I cannot be who I am in another country.

UGH, like I said, rude, obnoxious, and abominably racist. At least 10 years ago they were the "humble poles", now they make comments like "we don't give freebies to world's freeloaders". Dripping with arrogance, which is rich coming from a nation of people who literally come over in droves and send every penny back. They say arrogance is the hallmark of the mediocre.

but let's not make this into a political argument. I am not against anyone but I have heard a pole say "black people stink", "muslims are born rapists" and "brits deserve to be ripped off". So allow me to have my opinion. It's only that - my opinion. Don't even try to tell me I am a typical brit, you might not understand social graces where you come from, but in England it's RUDE. Which was my point.

1 pole said that. Okey. I don't think we can take 1 persons opinion into account as a general rule.
Eastern Europeans are more racists in general yes and They don't like foreigners in general.

Sorry I am not inclined on listing every polish person I have had interactions with and how this has informed my opinion. I simply don't have the inclination.

Also rich that they don't like foreigners, yet they've not shut up since the vote happened. Poor things. Like I said, let's not make this a political conversation, he tried to insult me by calling me a "typical brit", I had to hand it to him. It's an obligation. Do you not see how innately rude and prejudiced he was being? If he doesn't like typical brits, he has a choice.

Not posting on this thread anymore, I'll leave it for him to run to mods crying. Victims.

It seems you happen to be the only rude person in this thread, plain and simple. Krizzo3 by saying "If you dont act like a typical Brit in Kraków you are likely to be treated good." surely meant obnoxious behaviour of some of the British tourists in Kraków, a fact widely known from the media and you were definitely not addressed personally.
Everybody has their own experiences, your interactions with Poles seem to be negative and a glimpse of your personality traits shared in this thread would probably explain that.
Besides, you might expect the warmest welcome when travelling to Poland if you won't try to indoctrinate people with your point of view and instead share it in a civilised manner.

Not as rude as you
Any suggestions for accommodation please and onward travel from airport
Loved Sopot, and Gdansk, stayed there on a lads weekend. Like people say, cheap and beautiful. The Polish people were nothing but hospitable when we were there. Being bought shots in a bar by a load of (Polish) students who were celebrating the end of their exams and then being brought a pint from a guy who was "So thankful to the English for our assistance during the war" I had to concede it might have been my granddad there ;-)

So I would say book it, go see some really lovely Eastern European culture and architecture before it gets spoilt.

I stayed at the Sofitel Grand Sopot which was stunning, but we had a hugely reduced rate there. Check out the recommendations on Booking.com and go for a higher star rating. There are some lovely lodges on the beach which look very cool.

We got to resort by taxi from the airport, but I reckon Uber will be a cheaper option.

I did not mean to insult you kind sir, I was implying that if you behave yourself in a civilised manner you are likely to have a good time over in Poland whatever the city you go to, the service over there may not be as vaseline loaded as in western countries but it improved year on year.

By typical brit in krakow I have meant such behaviour: telegraph.co.uk/new…tml

One thing that Poles do when they speak English is miss out the word 'the', there is no direct equivalent. It's surprising how harsh a sentence sounds without it.
