Thanks for your deal. I've added the price and merchant to your title for you

£299 seems to be the going rate on the web for this product. As far as 5 yrs Free Warrenty goes. This is a marketing ploy. Anyone who knows their legal rights knows that under sale of Goods Act you get up to 6 yrs cover against mechanical breakdown. if check small print of Warrenty it will likely exclude the normal causes of failure like blocked pump or overloading or anything attributed to a failure to undertake mantenance tasks.

thanks just purchased

Not a bargain if will spend more time waiting for repair. Bad reviews, reported as rebadged turkish Vestel

Yep all Panasonic MDA's are Vestel. Like Electrolux,Whirlpool, bottom range as as well now.

There's a better item on vestel here : ukwhitegoods.co.uk/hel…tml

And one on Panasonic here: ukwhitegoods.co.uk/hel…tml

Confirms they make low end Panasonic's, which I guess this model is.

Just bought a new washing machine. The last one, a Siemens, was £500 and had a five year warranty. The main issue with these warranties, is that you end up waiting 3,4 or even 5 days for one of their limited pool of engineers to come. That's one thing if it's a dishwasher, quite another when it's a washing machine. And the bloody thing broke down at least 6 times in the 5 years. I gave up, briefly considered going even further up the chain and getting a Miele with a 10 year warranty and then thoughts sod it, and got a Beko that any old **** can fix.

Just my two pence. I do massively rate Panasonic as brand though.

Did you mean "Cheers" as it starts a sentence, so should be capitalised?

Pedantry can be quite annoying, don't you think?

Anyone who knows their legal rights will know that your are wrong. SOGA gives you 6 years to make a claim it doesn't mean you have 6 years cover against mechanical breakdown, far from it.

A++++? who does these energy ratings? ebay reviewers?

If this is a rebadged Vestel avoid like plague. Try and find a Samsung or similar. Those who have already bought are likely to regret it.

Not really. The law covers expected life of the unit, with a clause that essentially means you get what you pay for. For example, a top of the range washing machine should last longer than one at a bargain basement price. It's a bit of a grey area and you would have to fight tooth and nail to get any form of compensation from it.

Problem Child

I have the 10Kg version, which I believe is made by Hisense, not Vestel.

There is a set of parameters which the machine is tested on for the efficiency, according to the near useless manual, it uses just .57KWh on the eco Cotton program, not bad when it also has to heat the water as well.

Panasonic reliable .............We have owned a similar one for nearly 5 years , a family of 8 so the machine is on at least twice a day ........... Not a problem

You are corret I believe with what you say - however after 6 months YOU sometimes have to prove the machine had an issue from new, also when your washer is out of action you don't want to fight for weeks (or months) for service you want a service engineer on your doorstep (pref. the next day) and your machine fixed ASAP. So I personally think a 5 year warranty is a good idea on a product like this.

Thoughtful

I think PC was commenting on the large number of pluses after the 'A', making it look like ebay feedback.

Probably might just as well be though. For example, my current machine saves on water usage by not rinsing the washing enough to remove all the washing powder from the clothes, thus achieving a good water usage rating, but provides an extra rinses option to produce an acceptable wash; and one of my previous machines washed 10 degrees lower than the displayed programme wash temperature to achieve a better energy rating, but had a button to press to wash at the correct temperature.

I rated Panasonic as a brand but the top end washing machine I bought was awful. As was their warranty and customer service.
chewed clothes from New, 1st engineer claimed nothing wrong even though seeing photos. 2nd freed the clothes and told me it was a known fault with no repair and he would log it as such. Panasonic claimed he put in his report no fault. 3rd time it ripped sheets I filmed it. engineer said yep same fault. Panasonic report said user error.
At this point I sent the pile of crap back to the shop and filed for and won compensation for damaged clothes. Even that was a struggle as they tried to get out of it by wanting receipts for the clothes that matched the labels!
wouldn't trust having to deal with Panasonic for anything now.
