This Ultrabook is a bargain if you're looking for a zen for work with upgrade potential.

Pros:
It has 6GB Ram not 4 that is specified on the deal.

Great performance, boots immediately & looks great, feels solid.

Comes with a sleve+usb Ethernet adapter+VGA adapter should you need them.

Runs Windows 10 fine

Cons:
It's Ebuyer!

Power is next to delete on the keyboard!

The sound is too quiet until you update your software. (This is fixed by going to Asus website to the product support page and installing icepower audio wizard. You will then have a decent level of sound)

It's FHD rather than QHD (personally I'm happy with FHD, I don't see any point of a higher res this size, scaling is already up to 150% so you can see everything clearly. In addition, FHD will not bleed the battery as much)

You need to Turn off adaptive lighting with fn+A - as I find adaptive brightness too dim.
This again is according to personal preferences. I prefer to manually adjust brightness with fn+f6/f7.

Upgrades:
(4GB of Ram is soldered to the MB, and a 2GB module was installed.
I upgraded the 2GB to a 8GB Kingston Hyperx module upping the RAM to 12GB.)

The SSD can be upgraded, I upgraded to a Samsung 850 512GB.

There is a vacant mSata slot so you can stick in a second drive (this has no screws to mount it so be sure to acquire some).

Conclusion

If you're looking for an Ultrabook for work with the option of discrete graphics should you need it (and don't care about touch screen capability). This is for you; you won't be disappointed.
If you're afraid to open it, you can just update the OS to Windows 10 and install the latest support drivers on Asus website and it'll be fine. I work in IT so the first thing I wanted to do was take it apart!

If touchscreen is important to you and you don't mind plastic look for the Yoga 700 with the Nvidia940m.

Notes:
You'll need a plastic spudger & precision torx & a precision Philips screwdriver to open this. It's a bit fiddly but achievable. There are guides on YouTube.

Should you wish to upgrade the OS to Windows 10 Professional:

First run Belarc Adviser so you can take down the original Windows 8 key should you wish to sell your laptop at a later date, or copy the original partition. Alternatively, you could sell the key on ebay.

Create a bootable Windows 10 USB and create a file in notepad
Paste the following:
[EditionID]
Professional
[Channel]
Retail

Save as "ei.cfg" (include quotes).
Place this in the sources folder.

You'll be given the option to install pro when booting from the flash drive.
To activate you'll need a Windows 7-8.1 Pro key

Looks good, don't know why it's cold though. Would this be ok for basic gaming?

Basic Gaming yes, search youtube for "i7-5500U Nvidia GT 940m" to get an idea of performance to expect. You can get more fps by installing EVGA precisionx and overclocking slightly if you want to test out more modern titles on this.

Wouldn't the key be embedded in the BIOS and only be able to use if read from the BIOS again iirc, if you just try an enter it as a normal key it doesn't work?
Good deal tho would have been keen but the hinge problems put me off....

I removed the embedded key after I noted it down. I obtained the OEM key before it was activated using Belarc adviser.

Yes it supports Windows 7 64bit.
If you go to Asus site search for UX303LB and go to driver & tools, you will see Windows 7 64bit from the selection. There you can obtain all the drivers you will need to run Windows 7. asus.com/Not…ad/

Would this handle autocad or solidworks or am I better going for a Dell m3800 i7-4702hq with quadro k1100m?
Can anyone recommend a laptop as sleek as a Zenbook but with a basic spec. General browsing.

It's a good all-rounder, I haven't had any problems with it so far. If you are on the move stick Eco on and you'll get around 4-5 hours out of the battery streaming media. I didn't like the light sensor at first but after a while I prefer it. It matches lighting of the room to your screen to limit strain on the eyes. The power button being next to delete has only been a problem once, just had to get used to it. The fan is super silent, I never notice it. Someone has posted the deal again and it's got 30 odd degrees. I obviously provided too much information for most people.
