Would it be worth buying these and taking them straight to the metal scrap dealers? Might make a profit

Good thinking but i feel you might get some grief from the eco warriors that sometimes show up on here.

Pity my missus is wanting designer flat panel radiators! Could have saved …Pity my missus is wanting designer flat panel radiators! Could have saved a fortune.

Tell her that many designer radiators actually have a lower thermal output therefore cost more to run, a kick in the guts given how much more expensive they can be to buy! There are quite a few new ways to 'disguise' or cover radiators nowadays whilst not decreasing their efficiency to any significant degree, some are even able to help get a better (technically more usable rather than increased) heat output. It has been a while since I last did any design work with rads but there were some really cool options.

I believe dealers are supposed to only accept waste from registered carriers now, unless you're talking buying a few hundred radiators & registering as one. :/

None in stock that I can find.
Need type 22
When did Gary Barlow get into the radiator manufacturing business
they can flog off radiators incredibly cheap at toolstation.

people have said that barlo radiators seem to be fine so good deal if you can get it as most often when there is a sale on for these at toolstation, stock is very limited and you would be lucky to find stock near you.
You'd be lucky to warm your hands on the output from these.
No stock near me
no stock,

wild goose chase
Two ordered, worth the goose chase thanks saphiryman!

No stock near me

You can order for next day rather than buying it from local branch
saphiryman11/02/2020 23:09

Here are Type 22

Thanks so much. But they don't seem to have the size in looking for. I needed 500x1600. But much appreciated for your help.

Thanks. Did it now. Paid for it . Then got email and refund due to it being a discontinued item !
Great save there's next to no stock
In fact there doesn't seem to be any anywhere. Must be like Argos, who advertise a deal when there's only one in the UK in some weird location.
I checked last night and no stock.
Cheers OP, just picked up a few radiators for less than £30.
The Toolstation Barlo Delta radiator clearance has been ongoing for some weeks now, so any remaining stock must be getting low.

Can you tell us how these radiators defy the law of thermodynamics? What is the "wasted energy" converted to if not heat?

Style
Barlo have gone bankrupt so if you ever want to match these in the future then you will be out of luck.

Anyone can sell scrap to a merchant but has to produce ID before doing so and will have this recorded. It is usual for payment to be made by bank transfer, not cash-in-hand. That said, there is little or no value in scrap steel and many merchants will not buy it in.
No stock anywhere

There's no conversion at all as radiators only put out heat. I never claimed there was. I just wanted to make it easier for the layman to understand that some radiators are more efficient than others at transferring the heat from the hot water contained within into the room due to their design.

Convector heaters work by the heat rising & slow recirculation throughout the room with the warmest part of the room being near the ceiling; some new designs have inbuilt fans to direct the heat into the body of the room rather than it rising to the ceiling straight away. There are also thermally reflective surfaces to go behind the radiator to reduce heating of the wall (via conductive heating) which then radiates the heat back into the room. We're not talking major advances in science or technology but it does save money. Also, these were SAP assessed & approved upgrades to central heating designs as they theoretically make the radiators more efficient due to more 'usable' heat.

I wasn't clear in my original post because my mind must have wandered (that or I deleted a chunk, which is possible). You are correct in that a domestic user can go to scrap metal dealers with their own materials. I was meaning that if you bought the metals with an intention to scrap it then you'd need to be licenced nowadays. At one time you could pick up scrap from the neighbourhood, even as a friendly gesture for the sweet old lady who wanted rid of the stuff from her hut, & turn it in but now you'd need a waste transfer licence.
Can anyone recommend me some top alternatives to these? Got a new 40kw combi boiler but my rads aren't up to much.

You are joking right and dont really know what you are talking about scrap is at its lowest price it's been for years some places 30 to 50 a ton light iron and most places like EMR pay less than light iron on radiators because most scrap men dont empty the water or sludge from them.
