Why does this app need access to phone calls?

I did loads of Basic in the 80s... Your going to get so many old giffers going on about their spectrums and Commodores and BBC's etc on this thread. Not me though .... Although I started out with a VIC20 before getting my Amstrad CPC464...etc...etc

Had a Vic myself but can't remember any of the poke addresses!
You didn't mention the ZX Spectrum in the description so I am going to have to vote cold sorry.
Needs permission to make phone calls and access my files and won't start without them. No thanks.

That's esoteric even for me and I had a C64 but by that time I was coding in assembly at home and only using Basic to school to write a Defender game lol.
First Peek and Poke is not real Basic, but both the C64 and Spectrum used them. The BBC had it's equivalent with it's VDU (?) commands which I used at college with the 6502 co-processor

Anyway I can't remember where Poke used decimal (8) or Hex (V). Either I don't recognise this from the C64 so I'm guessing this was Vic20 or Spectrum?

Acorn Atom, Dragon 32/64 Micro Professor etc etc.
Bottom line though it was Sinclair vs Commodore then Amiga vs Atari. I'm a veteran of both wars, got the medals to prove it lol.

Who would of guessed where the 20 year old, who was co writing BASIC as his companies first product for home computers, would be today...

That was a pretty brilliant conversion of Rally-X. Amazing what you could fit in a 20K cartridge.

Could this be to do with needing these permissions to support any program you write that use these features?...or would it ask at the time of executing your code?...I don't know, never coded for a phone... Doesn't explain why it doesn't ask for a whole bunch of other stuff too I guess...anyone ?

Yeah Android apps have a history of asking for perms they don't need. But recent versions of Android do give you more info. Plus sometimes the weird ones are actually needed.
In this case it looks like you can access many of the standard Android calls and functions. Android "call" management may be one of them. I had a quick look at the forum and there was a previous issue with SMS perms because of this.

Actually I learnt to program on a VTech Power Pad!

Anyone know if you could copy and paste a basic programme into this? I’m thinking Football Manager on the speccy which was programmed in basic.
Thinking of this.. cant believe how fast 80s and 90s passes by..

Jurassic park, ricky martin, home alone, world cups, Monica Lewinsky ;-)
I'm putting my foil hat on before going anywhere near this
Have you seen the amount of permissions it needs
