From the producers of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight comes Batman: Gotham Knight.

Bridging the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and directed by Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), Batman: Gotham Knight taps into the work of three, pioneering anime studios (Production I.G., Studio 4C, and Madhouse) and five noted anime directors (Shojiro Nishimi, Futoshi Higashide, Hiroshi Morioka, Yasuhiro Aoki, and Toshiyuki Kubooka) to create a thrilling anthology of six interrelated, animated shorts based on stories by Josh Olson (A History of Violence), David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series), Greg Rucka (Whiteout), Jordan Goldberg (The Dark Knight), and Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets).

IGN said this was one of the best superhero movies to be made

i know it says bluray so is for ps3 but it would be more clear and helpful if it was added in the title.

You can play this on any standard Blu-Ray player, it doesn't need to be a PS3.

This is a feature length animated film, not a video game.

It is. It really is.

(Although I might be biased because I consider batman to be better then god.)

I love Batman. I love Batman Begins. I love The Dark Knight. I used to read the comics, a lot. I also loved The Animatrix, a multi-storied anime companion piece to The Matrix which is what Gotham Knight is trying to be to The Dark Knight.

I'd like to say that Gotham Knight is massively disappointing, and almost all stories aren't recognisable as Batman in any conventional form. Nor do the original takes bring anything interesting to the character, as either Bruce Wayne or Batman. Where the stories told are meant to relate to The Dark Knight, they don't in any useful sense.

Given how good this should have been, I am amazed that IGN would have said what they did - this DVD does not do the character justice in any single sense that I can fathom. I'd seriously read some reviews before buying this if I were you.

i disagree, i think some of the shorts were good and did the character justice.

although if you want to watch a really good batman move watch Batman: Under the Red Hood.

That's my thoughts entirely, I was similarly disappointed in this as it just seems to be relying on being very stylised to make up for a lack of content. Unlike Animatrix I didn't think the shorts added anything at all, given the choice again there's no way I'd have bought it. I haven't voted hot/cold as price wise it is a good deal.

I've only seen one clip from this, it was where the local crime lords all gather together not knowing who called the meeting. Then the Red Hood appears, cue menacing speech taking over crime in the city.. Completely lifted from TDK's Joker introduction.

That's aside from some ridiculous gunplay, which makes no sense whatsoever. But maybe the rest of it is better.

For a batman movie this was the worst one I've seen personally. Unless you've watched this already and you liked it, you shouldn't buy it.
