Not everyone has a car big enough for extended rear facing...

Recaro seats out and bat seats in, and that's just for me and the missus

Fully agree. We bought a rear facing up to stage 1 (18kg or up to 4 years/head height over top of seat) for our eldest and our youngest moved into it. Cost us £280 and had nearly 5 years use out of it.
Rear facing up to that age is a lot safer than forward, plenty of research out there…just not the support or availability in the UK.

I could fit the below in a VW Polo

Missus had to sit in the back though

Oh, good price for the Bat seat too!

Looks like it's back in stock

I saw this in Halfords the other week and really wanted one lol.. My boy is 11 now, so I don't think it will go down too well!

Availability issues must be because not many people buy them in this country. They'd rather spend their money on things like alloy wheels....

Horrible generalisation I know, but undoubtedly true in some cases.

And anyway, our rear facing seat cost about £50 second hand.

This looks fun!

Wouldn't use it from 9 months personally as we are rear facing too, however since it lasts up to age 12 it would be good for older ones.

This is the only reason I would consider having another child.....

I thought you weren't supposed to use a second hand car seat? I drive but atm money is tight and we can't afford a car but occasionally my dad will drive down and take us off for the day so we do need a seat that's affordable for the use iykwim. Lucky for me our daughter is small for her age and still in her 0+ first car seat. I wasn't aware of this but according to Baby Centre you don't go off your childs age but the weight! So if like mine daughter who is 11 months old but only weighs 9kg the seat will be good until she is 13kg or until her head is higher than the top of the seat. Sorry if anyone knew this already but (dumb ass) here had no idea. I'm thrilled because it means I will get longer out of my seat. Thanks also to everyone who said about the rear/forward facing debate, again I had no idea… sigh...

Safety testing and implementation - £19.99
Batman licensing - £30

Anything with this wide age/weight range is jack of all trades, master of none. Equally unsafe for all groups. Really good child seat costs £100 once in 3-4 years, is the life of your kid really not worth that much?

But then, we have people buying tiny death trap cars to save £100 per year in tax..

This makes me want to have a kid just so I can buy this...

Couldn't resist and reserved for my youngest. The 2 Gracos his brothers are using will just not cut it after seeing this.

Not a good idea to buy second hand. And yes, it was a horrible generalisation.

Sorry but how contradictory can you be. The number one bit of advice for car seats is don't buy second hand. You have no idea how current it is, whether it fits your car properly, has it been involved in an accident, etc.

30 years ago, no one used car seats. Now a front facing seat is much safer than none at all. If front facing wasnt safe they would be banned or at least regulated to only be available for certain age ranges.

Gutted, We only bought a new car seat the other week for our little one, he would LOVE this!

This is amazing!!!

Or maybe they buy small cars because bigger ones are too expensive?????

You know for a fact that I have no idea on those points?

Unsafe things aren't always banned in this country. Thankfully.

Front facing toddler seats are banned in some European countries. I can assure you that that doesn't mean they are only unsafe in those countries.

Second hand 3-year old Focus costs half as much as of those brand new tiny Dacias and other nonsense people vote HOT on this page. Also better equipped and much safer for the family.

But again - I don't expect logic from people saving £100 once in 4 years for a safe, comfortable child seat.

Maybe I'm missing your point (I'm sorry if so), but this chair WAS £100.00 originally. If I could pick up an all singing all dancing brand new rear facing car seat for £100 then absolutely I would (please anyone post on here if you find one). Britax and many other leading car seat manufacturers do a 1,2,3 car seat so I can't see how its ok for them but not a Batman one. They all have to conform to the same safety test surely?! I would hope so anyway. I completely see your point about your childs safety being worth all the money in the world, but how do you know that this seat is particularly unsafe compared to any other? I personally resent the implication I am a bad parent simply because I really like this car seat and think its awesome. Sorry.

Wouldn't worry, you always get somebody standing on top of their soap box waiting to p#ss on someone's bonfire.
