Hailed as one of the best Batman books ever, and it's only £1.88 + £1 shipping! Bargain!

Not sure what edition this is - not sure if paperback or hardback, but seemed like a great price either way.

Thought I didn't recognise the website. Apparently forbiddenplanet.co.uk & forbiddenplanet.com are different companies.

The .com one has the branches and is owned by Titan Publishing. Not sure about the other?

Be cautious about using the .co.uk company; there are a lot of stories of credit card fraud involving their customers (a swift google search came up with a number of examples). Apparently the .com version is a completely separate company.

Heat added!

I've bought a few things from Forbidden Planet before, and they are legit although be aware that their delivery times can be a lot longer than expected. It should tell you when you purchase roughly how long it should take, and something like this should be fine, but I purchased a somewhat collectible item once; expected to take a month, took 5. By then I even forgot I bought it.

Regardless, The Killing Joke is an excellent graphic novel, one of my favourites, and is the obviously much of the inspiration for The Dark Knight movie. Definitely worth a read, especially for only £2.88!

Only 48 pages. Wouldn't have full price for this "novel" at that size anyway. Hardly the girth of watchmen

Yes, I wanted to point this out. .co.uk is well known for credit card fraud, I myself have been a victim of this, and I only stored my details on my site, my order never went through.

Temping but all this stuff about fraud has put me off

Have you actually read the book? It is a classic piece of Batman/Moore writing.

Size isn't everything

Best batman graphic IMO

best batman book ever

Yeah, I don't think the CC fraud is worth it, sadly.

Written by an englishman and drawn and coloured by englishmen. (The wonderful Brian Bolland)
Was a superb graphic novel this.

Brian Bolland is a Great Artist

How about just using Paypal?

because I wouldn't want to reward this company with my business. they are very aware of the credit card fraud, it's been going of for over a year...

Is it still going on? As far as I can see it all happened in 2009.

Fair enough to avoid them on principle, I'm just trying to see what the risk is. With Paypal there shouldn't be an issue.

I've used both sites with no problem. If you look into it those defrauded were simply defrauded and looked to the nearest scapegoat imo.

good price but ive had problems with f planet before.... would not use again

but all of the people defrauded, including myself, had all bought from .co.uk in the last six months or so. I don't believe in co-incidences.

they both have branches, .co.uk actually has more stores than .com (check their websites for listings).
I've ordered from both - .com promise items as in stock, whicvh they don't and when I finally got them the packaging was damaged. Never again.
.co.uk might be somewhat slower (altho that has vastly improved) but overall a lot more reliable and better condition. good customer services too. go with the paypal option, and youi'll be fine. not sure i see the logic in your argument, captain west? not rewarding a company that had problems with cc fraud? don't you think that they have been the victim as much as you have? anyway, that was 2 years or so ago.

not reward a company that knows about it's credit card fraud and never did anything about it.

Emailed them since it still hasn't arrived. Their reply:

"Unfortunately this is currently awaiting restocks. This is due to arrive on or around 17th September. As soon as we receive these stocks we will process and despatch your order. I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this delay."

So, hopefully we'll get it eventually.

Original Poster

I've had mine through a couple of weeks ago - not the special edition hardcover, but for £1.88 i didn't really expect it to be.

It's worth the wait though, it was an awesome read!
