You need a drop test meter to test a battery properly. A multimeter does put battery under load will not show the true bsttery state.
I test my car battery everyday, if it starts, it's good. If it don't, it's no good. You're welcome

Or Oil Filter Wrench. Is this how Lidl saves money? by advertising items that cost the same on the same web page? Vey odd.

Would putting the lights on produce a decent load? That's usually what I do while monitoring the voltage.

Put everything on.
Lights, rear screen heater, air con.
Then test.

Chris Fix has some good tutorials showing you how to test battery's and alternators with a voltmeter.

No, I wondered that when I saw it on the website but picked one up today and confirm it;s in English, guess they just re-used the image from the German site.

I think they were also selling a smart charger if anyone has need of one, small enough to fit under the bonnet.

Rear screen heater? Air con? We don't all drive those posh Bentley automobiles, hell I ain't even got working heating, I ain't even got an alternator come to think of it, I'm still rocking a old school dyno.

Guess I'll just put the lights on and crank up the music.
About as useless as the battery condition tester im a car (if fitted) by the time it is showing low voltage the battery is useless!
Far better were the ammeters fitted to early cars which did actually measure the current flowing through the battery. With plus and minus signs. If the battery was charging properly the gauge would register slightly in the plus side. You could tell immediately if the pointer stayed on the negative side.
I think they were discontinued because the main cable to the battery had to be brought to the meter behind the dashboard with the possible risk of fire if the cable was shorted to earth.

If it don't start, it's not necessarily the battery, could be something else.

Or you enact a load by starting the engine. All this machine does is do exactly the same as multimeter and use the measurement to change LEDs rather than a display. OP is right, it's literally the same mechanism.
