Battlefield 1 Beta Confirmed; Here's How to Get in Early

Found 7th May 2016
A beta for Battlefield 1 is on the way sometime later this year, Electronic Arts has confirmed.

Although the beta test wasn't mentioned during today's reveal event, it is referenced in the press release about Battlefield 1's announcement. By registering as a Battlefield Insider for free, you'll be able to get into the beta early.

You can sign up as an Insider here on the official Battlefield website. When you do so, the only perks are said to be "in-game rewards, exclusive content, and sneak peeks at news about Battlefield," as well as details on other EA games. The press release mentions all of this but also states Insiders get "early access to the Battlefield 1 public beta."

So far, no other details regarding the beta have been shared, including when it might start (the game launches on October 21), how big this early access window might be, or what it includes. We'll have more details as they're announced.

Can't wait for it, the dogfight scene in the trailer looked amazing!

Ahh only five and a half months to go, nothing like dangling the carrot and then whipping it away.. £64.99 on Origin which they can cough-off if the think I would pay that.

It's all well and good people saying digital will be cheaper when physical is no longer a big market, but companies have shown time and time again, when they CAN price things lower on their own store, they DON'T.

Unfortunately I'm not a developer and simply copied what was written by them.

It's actually them I was having a pop at...:p

Looks like only a few seconds of in game footage? What's the point? I don't want to see the cut scenes that I'll skip anyway, I don't care about those, come back when you've got a game trailer, not a movie trailer.

Have to admit the trailer looks interesting, will no doubt end up buying it. Just a shame it will be another money pit filled with no doubt loads of bugs, issues and cheats

Also brought batttalion 1944 hopefully that will be good when its finally released.

Meh. I'll play the beta but i'm buying COD this year. I find it ironic how people are saying BF1 feels fresh with the WW1 setting when its COD thats doing something different this year and will have less restrictions compared to a WW1 setting which they can't really do much with. Plus i'm buying the legacy edition for COD 4 while BF1 is charging the same price for its limited edition with useless crap like dogtags. I'll take COD over anything BF any day of the week. I can't get enough of COD.

Because there is nothing new in cod, whereas battlefield decided to to revisit WW1. This allows for gameplay to be based on gunplay as opposed to gadgets and pressing something on your wrist that auto kills enemies.

Nothing new about COD? COD has evolved and changed alot more than BF or any other franchise this gen. I could care less about WW1 as even WW2 is over done and ancient at this point so i can't even imagine how boring and dull WW1 would be.

Also with infinite warfare its a space setting which also has never been done before. I find it hilarious people bash COD are the same people who buy games like Uncharted which has literally not changed at all since the first game. Hate COD all you want it aint going anywhere.

I dont know how to take this comment, While you sit at home in your cosy armchair with your gaming console/pc and glass of juice.

The world war was a cold and eerie place to be if it wasnt for all those soldiers that gave there lives so let it live on through a games console coz thats obviously how kids learn there history nowadays.

Your idea of innovation is changing the setting? BF4's Levolution trumps that alone bud. I'm personally burnt out on both franchises so neither trailer did anything for me.

Oh and Uncharted 2 was a huge leap from the 1st, did you even play them? 3, sure not so much but then again people enjoy Uncharted because of the story telling & character development. Plus, it not being churned out yearly helps.

Oh and it's couldn't care less btw.

What has recently been innovated in cod? Space? Are you serious? How is that innovation? The game engine has not changed since cod4.

When was the last blockbuster WW1 / WW2 FPS? When was the last Modern / Futuristic FPS?
That's right, WW1/WW2 is a breath of fresh air this decade thanks to call of duty: wheres my jetpack and aim assist.

Very clever of them to include cod4. This will make loads of sales from that because that was an excellent cod game, when cod was in its prime.

CoD will no doubt sell, plenty of 14 year olds parents will lap that up.

I can already tell you are a console gamer haha.

Well it added wall running and jetpacks which changes the gameplay compared to the old games. Also I find it funny how people hate on COD for futuristic setting and jetpacks when people don't hate on Titanfall which people can't stop kissing its backside even though it has everything people hate COD for nowadays.

The whole reason COD even went futuristic was because of how people went crazy for Titanfall as the hype was insane. People who don't like the direction COD has gone can blame themselves as they are the reason why COD is in the state its in.

But titanfall came out with wall running first? Titan fall is very similar to cod, small skill gap and a very shallow game.
Even Halo has jetpacks.

The devs do make it very easy to "hate" on cod.

WW1 is going to seriously restrict the gameplay. People are hyping it up now but once they play it most people will either go back to BF4 or jump ship to COD. Only reason people are even talking about BF1 is to find another reason to hate on COD yet again.

People on the internet are a very small minority. People who actually play COD are happy with the futuristic direction and the proof is in the playerbase as Activision have said 8 million people play Black ops 3 every week and its also the most streamed game on twitch on both PS4 and Xbox one.

The people who play BF games like the strategy difference, the squad play, vehicles, large maps, lots of players on a server... That will all exist in BF1. That's why they don't play COD. It is a different kind of FPS.

Those BF players also want something more modern and its going to feel like a massive downgrade going from BF4 with its modern gameplay and weapons to WW1 which barely has any good weapons and mostly just trench fighting.

I'm not so sure. I'm one of those players and I still go back to play Battlefield 1942 and really enjoy it. However as that is a cut down BF game it lacks what BF1 will bring.

I'd play 1942 over any modern shooter any day, so happy EA/Dice have decided to go ahead and make a WW game, the futuristic and even modern settings were getting too similar.

Battlefield 1 will not feel like a downgrade, it'll feel fresh and hopefully less "packed" with nonsense.

WW1 was pretty much just trench fighting. If they try to bend the rules it won't be realistic.

Did you just accuse a video game of not being "realistic"?

Because CoD is incredibly realistic right?
Because FPS blockbusters are realistic right?
Dice even said that BF1 is being set in an alternate WW1 scenario, not exactly historically accurate to allow for more creativity.

There were lots of theatres of WW1 over the 4 years it spanned and the fact it occured over the entire WORLD, not just the trench warfare such as the Battle of the Somme.

Are you just trolling now?

Halo did space, double jump and all that shiz way before titanfall and COD. And BF1 will rip all fps asses.

Bf1 is just 4 with a ww1 skin. Literally the same animations and shooting. Only reason it even has the hype it has because people want more reasons to hate on COD.
