I know this won't appeal to many, but if even one other person wants one, then I'd be happy
I've had this exact same fridge now for over 17 years without any problems, except now the bottom hinge has broken [pin worn down]

Looking around for replacement hinges, I discovered that they were a whopping £65 plus postage!

However on my 'net search I found a firm called domesticsdirect.co.uk/ selling them online for just £145 for a brand new unit!

There is very little info on the ebay site. I would at least expect the size of the fridge mentioned (50cm, 55cm or 60cm wide). NO WARRANTY either (just 3 months return, which will cost more than £35 no doubt). Not a good deal IMO.

Bauknecht is a high quality manufacturer and part of Whirlpool Corporation whirlpoolcorp.com/bra…spx but pulled out the UK a few years ago, though they still operate extensively throughout Europe http://www.bauknecht.com/pages/pre_home_bk.html

My new kitchen supplier richardsoncardy.co.uk/ installed this fridge in 1994 and IIRC it cost us in the region of £450 then! oO Out of the hundreds of units they installed, he says he has never heard of a single problem with any of them, and when I asked if I would be mad going for this deal, he said it was a no brainer!

It is a full size 60cm inbuilt/under counter unit requiring a decor door. Mine has just been delivered this morning [hence my posting] and is fully intact in the manufacturers original sealed cardboard shipping box as expected.

No there may no longer be a manufacturers warranty applying in the UK, but there is a 3 month RTB to this supplier as has been already stated.

I had to arrange my own delivery here to NI but I think the original listing stated £30 to mainland UK.

GRAB A BARGAIN IF YOU CAN!

Only 4 left presently.

If you are close for pick up, they are in Southport, Merseyside.

Box dimensions are 86cm x 60cm x 60cm and gross weight is 35kgs.

why is this a good deal? my parents fridge has lasted like 15 years and never cost any near that new... its no biggie for a fridge to last that long unless abused somehow?
its far too expensive for a small fridge!!

Because it's like comparing a Fiat with a Mercedes....quality!
Frost free and silent running even after all this time.

And yes, I do have another old Electrolux fridge in the garage still running after 20+ years, but the quality is really naff compared to Bauknecht.
I am told that they are the same ilk as the likes of Neff, Meile or Leibher.......and no......you won't buy one of those for £145!

So how do you define quality, if the quality of a fridge that has worked for 20+ years is naff?

No warranty = no heat.

Actually, after being "in storage" for a long time, there might well be some heat... in the actual fridge

I had Bauknecht disease about three years ago. Had to use loads of ointments and could have done with a fridge to store them in.

you can buy a fridge freezer for less!

I don't think the likes of Dale Farm residents was ever their target market........

As for all the **** comments - it's the sort of thing which puts me off posting anything on here ever again!

maybe youve missed the point? how can the audience that speaks be wrong? its our money and perception

Thanks Faythur, have some heat. Looking out for an integrated fridge and don't intend spending a lot as kitchen is almost due a revamp (just not yet). This might just fit the bill and I live a stone's throw from the seller! I take it you are pleased with the quality?

Well with top deals like this, you will be sorely missed.

Picked up fridge yesterday, installed today without hitch. As for the above comments about quality, I have bought both Miele and Siemens appliances in recent years and this is comparable, a fantastic bargain! Thanks for the information Faythur!

No problem

Glad you agree. I've since installed my new one too - even better than my old one, which I've just today set up in my garage having 'fixed' the pin on the bottom hinge. I reckon they are a good £5/600's worth compared to other brands available on the High Street.....

This looks a good deal my built in fridge has just pack in.Are you still happy with Bauknecht.Did you do a buy it now as they are now on ebay starting bid 65.00
