Bayonetta 1 and 2 Digital for Switch £39 from Nintendo South Africa eShop

Found 16th Jan
There's an offer to get Bayonetta 1 for a discount if you buy Bayonetta 2 on the Nintendo Switch eShop. However the deal gets better (and better than the physical prices) if you change your region and buy from the South African eShop. Bayonetta 2 cost roughly £33.50 and then Bayonetta 1 is discounted to 100 Rand which is about £5.50, so £39 in total.

How do you buy from other regions in GBP? Or is it really simple that I shouldn’t ask?
When you change the store region, does it lock out the content you've already bought from stores? Or is it all visible on your Switch home?

You can use the Revolut virtual card app (Android and iphone). Top it up and pay in GBP.

I find the best way is to attempt payment without any funds so that it gets declined. The app will then show the exact amount in GBP that the eshop was trying to charge. You can then top up that exact amount.

Go in to your Nintendo accounts.nintendo.com and just change your country. For me the South African store seems fine using my UK card without flapping about, you could use Revolut or other payment systems, but I've never needed to.

No it doesn't lock you out, everything just appears on the home menu. There 2 things you can do, change the region on your account or make multiple accounts (one in each region you buy from), which ever way you do it all accounts on that Switch can play everything. The only downside I think is that eShop credit is lost if you swap region, but I just buy with a card each time. I've left my main account set to South Africa for the last few months as most stuff is cheaper on there and I much prefer having everything digital so it's all in one place.

You don't. You'll be charged in the currency of that region.
Most cards have an FX fee
It's £42.99 for a physical copy right now, so depending on the resale value, physical might be a better bet atm.
Any country works that are covered by Nintendo Europe, Norway is sometimes cheaper than South Africa. I just use a free currency credit card such as post office, aqua, halifax one

Does the physical copy give you Bayonetta 1 as well?

The physical copies include a code for a digital copy of Bayonetta 1. Personally, I prefer digital unless I know I'll blast through a game and likely never touch it again, but that won't be the case with these

Yup, but that will be a code.

You will only get your region locked if you were to add eShop credit to your account. For example, if you switch to US eShop to redeem a $50 US eShop card, then use that to purchase a $49.99 game. With $0.01 left in your eShop wallet, you will not be able to change regions unless you contact Nintendo and then forfeit the $0.01 (or however much you have in your eShop wallet).

Oh really? That's very strange. I've read a few people on the NintendoSwitch reddit reporting that they were unable to switch to a different region with credit in their account.

Might be because it's still within the EU region? I'm pretty sure the SA works off the EU region. Can you try switching to another region like Japan/US to confirm?

Yes, SA is part of Nintendo Europe (billing wise) I was able to switch to mexico, USA and japan but had the same payment issues that everyone else has encountered, failing at the payment stage on card and paypal.
For everyone who is struggling with the swapping of regions etc, just do what I do and create an account for each region you buy from, I currently have accounts for UK, US, Mexico, Norway, Russia and South Africa, all accounts on the Switch so any game i buy from whichever region can all be played with my main UK account.

I purchase from all of these just using Revolut, which doesn't charge any exchange fees.

I know it can be a faff creating email addresses etc, but cuts out the loss of funds etc if you are worried about that sort of thing, just keep a record of the accounts you have set up and emails incase you need them in the future, simples

On another note, does anybody know the total combined price of these 2 games after discount if bought on the UK Store? I only ask as I got a discounted £50 eShop card and am tempted to just stick to UK depending on price difference

Thanks
Sorry this is slightly off topic (good deal btw), but does anyone know what the discount is for one game if you already own the other on the UK eshop?
The Nintendo site says there's a discount, but doesn't specify how much.

I was wondering this myself, but haven't had an answer yet... I was only wondering because I can get UK credit for slightly cheaper than it should be and I still had some on account so wondered what difference would be

I called Nintendo support, but even they didn't know. Someone on gamefaqs bought both and confirmed that the the second purchase is discounted by £15, making the total for both games £50.
I bought an eshop code for the first one from ebay off a fella for £18. Once downloaded, Bayonetta 2 shows up as £25.
