The BBC Good Food - Recipes app comes with 20 free recipes as standard but usually requires an in-app purchase for each of the 7 recipe packs. At the moment they are all FREE! Not sure how long for so be quick.

These are the existing cookbooks, each with over 160 recipes:

- Healthy - 195 recipes including Salmon & ginger fish cakes, Thai beef stir-fry and Indian butternut squash curry
- Quick - 195 recipes including Quick lamb biryani, Parmesan spring chicken and easy puds, and White chocolate & berry pudding.
- One-pot - 170 recipes including Sausage casserole with garlic toasts and One-pot mushroom & potato curry, Prosciutto & pesto fish gratin
- Cake - 170 recipes including Lemon drizzle cake, Best-ever brownies and Carrot cake with cinnamon frosting
- Seasonal - 180 recipes including Asparagus cream pasta, Peppered chicken with watercress and Slow-cooked pork & red cabbage
- Food for friends - 170 recipes including Crispy chicken with pancetta & butter beans, Cauliflower cheese & spinach pasta bake and Bakewell cheesecake
- Festive - 180 recipes including Unbelievably easy mince pies, Classic roast turkey with red wine baste and Brussels with hazelnut & orange butter

To use this application you need a mobile phone or tablet device that runs Android OS 2.3.3 and above. This version is developed to give the best experience on the following devices:
Samsung Galaxy Europa, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3 and 7" HTC Flyer, 8.9" Galaxy Tab, 10.1" Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Tab 2

I am currently using it on a Galaxy Note and it works well. Be aware that it uses quite a lot of space and looks like it is not possible to move to SD.

Looks like its also available for the iPhone

Going to try a recipe tonight.
I have a few of these cookbooks at home and they are by far my favourite. They never go wrong. Thank you so much for this.
Thanks
Thanks - I just remotely installed it on my girlfriends phone - wonder what'll be for tea tonight now
Hehe worto03 I also did the same!
I did it on my husbands phone. Dont expect much. The man couldnt boil an egg to save his life..
Why would anyone pay for recipes?

That is beyond me.
One other tip - you should probably back up the recipe files just in case you need to put them on another device in the future. They are stored in a hidden folder of the internal storage called .com.bbc.gfrtact
I use ES File Explorer to view the hidden files and then copy them to my external SD card. To show hidden files in ES File Explorer, go to settings > File Settings within the app, then check the Show Hidden Files option.
Handy - need to get it on my husband's ipad and give him a map to the kitchen!
Thankyou love a freebie
No wonder its free, can't move to SD card.

Yeah thats the issue with the app. No big deal for devices with large on board storage, or those who have rooted devices. You can back up the recipe files to your sd card and copy them back and forth as required but it's a pain to do.
Thank you!
Takes up a huge amount of space and can't move to SD card!
I usually go bbcgoodfood.com/ and then just search for a recipe I want? All the recipes are there and you can search for chicken recipes etc

Surely should be in the freebies section?
Fab! Thx for posting! Love BBC Good Food recipes. Hot!
Ooooh a whole 25MB of storage just move everything else you can to SD and then hopefully you'll have plenty of room
brilliant post! thanks.

Downloaded android version to my phone and the ipad version to my ipad. (also downloaded Iphone version, i case i ever buy one)
wow what an awesome find! downloading on my iPhone 5 now, make sure you actually click download on all of the individual cookbooks in app, don't just download the app and think that's it! cheers op!!
MiiCK, could you please talcum me through how to download the individual books. I'm in an iPad but guess it's same as for the iPhone. Thanks
shopkeeper just fire up the app and on the homescreen you will see all the other recipes categories. Click on them and they will start downloading to your devices.
Thanks speedking!
Thanks..
Cheers

Yep, a 25MB recipe reader app which can't be moved to SD is just ridiculous.
Thanks for posting - I use the ChefTap app for my recipes, but I'll have a look at this, because the price seems very reasonable.
any idea how big each cookbook is in terms of filesize?
This should be in Freebies!

Ditto, but o2 are mucking about with my alleged upgrade today.
Nice, now all I need is someone to find a way to 3D print food then I could click and eat.
Downloading all books at the moment - can only imagine they're going to release some tempting addons soon so they are hoping people will get app
in the interests of science I downloaded the app and a couple of packs - installed app takes 26mb of internal storage and isn't movable, packs seem to go straight to sd card though and take roughly 20mb each - checked space left in both storages after downloading each one and internal definitely wasn't used. download speed on packs is terrible even on WiFi too.

app seems pretty good though, has a shopping checklist and built in timers on the cooking instructions so well worth the download, but no movement to SD means I'll probably uninstall it afore long.
