Cheers, I crack on with it then. The worst they could do if refuse and refund me.

Jonny_Oxford

Someone has ordered two of this deal. So I think they're pretty relaxed. These subscription type offers are all about drawing people in so I doubt they'll even realise.

dnc316

Anyone know if you can take this offer if you've already taken and cancelled the wine plan offer with Laithwaites? Their T&Cs don't know and their customer services don't understand my question.

Jonny_Oxford

I have received my order and just cancelled with Laithwaites. You have to call them (03330 148 198) but I spoke to a friendly guy called Taylor. He first offered me £20 off my next order, when I refused he offered me £20 off my next order and unlimited free delivery for 12 months which may be useful to some of you? After refusing again he cancelled the order. All in all relatively pain free.

Jonny_Oxford

Great to know. Sounds like they have improved since 2016! I have this being delivered this mornkng so plan to cancel this afternoon. If I have any difficulties I'll let you guys know.

Thanks - good to know!

freccle

Yes the wine was very good and yes the DD has been cancelled but I've had to block their number on True Caller cos they just didn't leave me alone

scoffer1

Interesting comments - would it be possible to cancel direct debit and inform them that you have done so as you wish to cancel? Surely bank would not continue to pay out then? Thanks for the warning.... out of interest was the wine good?

freccle

the glasses are lovely. i've bought more since i got the free ones. But Laithwaites phone and text and email incessantly, even when you’ve cancelled. Which i tried to do 3 times and in the end had to send a recorded letter cancelling

i was being a little facetious, it can be a pain to dial it in sometimes - to go down from 30 or to go up to 120. have you seen the new model in the US that is so customisable it allows you to use an app and you can create custom programmes? that's what you need.

Crappyfish

saw the reviews on costco site some were saying they are unreliable and break down. May be I got lucky that's why I bought the Tower one. I also researched sorry about comment but that's what I found when I looked into it. If your happy with it that's all that matters.

malhal

Not for me no but my dad can't use it because after you press manual you only have a few seconds to adjust the time before it starts, then he holds the minus button and goes past the time, and then has to press plus and continues like that. A big improvement would be able to set a time for each of the buttons, e.g. Rice to 4 mins, and Casserole to 12 mins, which by the way are the times in the booklet. Or better yet just make the Rice button be 4 mins by default rather then the 30 minutes it is right now.

CheapLife

Not a big deal. I suppose plugging it in is tedious too?

CheapLife

good deal I love mine and use it 3-4 times a week. got mine from Costco. never seen a poor review, don't know what other commenter is talking about.

Call from work. I have a subscription to this magazine. It was fun at first but after the first two issues, I no longer read it. All the recipes are too simple and quick. That's no good if the end result is tasteless. The magazine doesn't deliver what it promises.

Tom.Servo

I suggest you look up the definition of "free"

1977mermaid

Oh, you're sad..

Tom.Servo

My mistake... it's not free at all then!

Thanks to OP for this. Have been trying since Tuesday to do this via Internet Explorer 7 and Vista, switched to Mozilla Firefox and the hidden part of the submission form was visible. I would suggest that anyone having difficulty with the submission use an alternative to IE7 ;-)

A single mother on benefits is better off than other sections of society. I feel more sorry for the singletons who work all the hours god sends yet still have little to show. Back to the point, this is still a deal saving people who fancy going money so I say hot. :-D

GeoffAngela

Yes, this event would not be financed out of licence fees. As far as I am aware, the involvement would be through BBC Enterprises which is a proft making arm which deals in DVD sales, sales to foreign TV stations and magazines such as the Radio Times. So rest easy, you're not paying for this one!

dxx

To be fair though, this isn't strictly a BBC event. I'm not sure why their name comes into it or how they're involved in the events (although, I'd guess that they're subsidising them in exchange for TV rights), but the event itself seems to be the work of Haymarket Publishing, an independant company that produces the Good Food magazine, along with various other sponsorship-heavy rags like What Hi-Fi. Although, looking at the site, it seems that the event is sponsored by Sainsbury's, and is largely a publicity event for the magazine. I'm not sure how this doesn't constitute commercial advertising.
