Looked at some of the Amazon reviews, wouldnt put this on my cat. I've been using food grade diatomaceous earth on my cat, works pretty good, heard too many horror stories about these chemical flea treatments and stopped giving them to my cat.
Fipronil doesn't work anymore. Go with advantage.
This is same ingredient as Frontline so doesn't work. Advantage never let me down.
Is this actually any good? I thought the only worthwhile treatment at the moment for fleas is what is on a prescription

That's what the vets want you to believe. I can't speak for this product, but I find beaphar products generally quite good.

Is a vets prescription required for advantage

Nope.
Flea treatment containing fiptonil used to be prescription only and was considered the best available. Now you can get it without so i dont see why now all of a sudden fipronil based treatment is now rubbish?
I use it and it seems to work fine, 2 cats, no fleas...... i'd say it was like ronseal.....
Useless. Fleas are completely immune to this and most other mass market non prescription products such as Advantage and even some vet only products like Advocate. Stronghold is the stuff that works these days.

Because it doesn't work on fleas anymore.

My cats would disagree

Until they get fleas. These products simply don't work anymore. Zero effect.

Sure but it doesn't work anymore just like Advocate and Advantage. So you are now wasting your money. You might as well not use anything and cross your fingers that your neighbours treat their pets with Stronghold or other products that actually still work from a vet.

Yes it is true, fleas can now thrive on animals treated with these products as others already noted above.

You are not getting it. Not having fleas yet doesn't mean they can't get fleas. Use Google and educate yourself as to the problem.

Not used it but the ingredients are not those that fleas are now commonly immune to. :-)

Is it prescription only? How much?
This is now on a repeat prescription and isn’t cheap for us. 3 months worth costs about £32. This was also recommended by the RSPCA for cats due to fleas building up and immunity to shop bought flea treatments.
I've not seen any actual evidence from studies that fipronil isn't effective if applied properly. Its always worked on our dogs when we've been lapse and they've picked them up. Key is to break the chain, there could well be eggs in carpet, bedding etc that will keep hatching. Those that are saying it no longer works, can you link to some evidence out of interest?

Its only been a widespread issue for the last year or so. And I'm not misleading. It does nothing noticeable to a flea infestation.
