Just returned from Canada, where I used this Jacket on a visit to the Athabasca Glacier in the Rockies. Not only did it exceed my expectations in the extreme cold ,but it was stylish enough to wear off the ice as well. Light enough to pack into your luggage/bags, seems to be constructed for your protection and with comfort and survival standards you would expect from heavier more expensive jackets. A robust cold weather essential! PS I also used it to wrap up and protect my sleepy, jet lagged, 3 year old son. What a great barrier to the elements and a make shift sleeping bag it was!

Ready for the ice field, the Arctic Down Jacket is heavy on insulation but super-efficient on weight. Filled with natural feather down and equipped with a windproof ripstop outer.
Super lightweight natural insulation.
Full hood
Windproof baffle behind main zip.
2 zip hand pockets.
1 zipped chest pocket.
Neoprene inner stormcuff.
Fully adjustable cuffs and hem.
Polyamide
Lifetime guarantee.

Great jacket for extreme cold.

Like our winters like last year

But it's red and ORANGE!! Hideous, if you're at all fashion conscious when in extreme cold

Looks very warm and good quality.
Hot from me.
Ah, there's an all black one too. I need a new winter jacket and I'm tempted...

Associated with Bear Grylls, so NO!

I don't personally like bear grills and I can't do red and orange but I went to Athabasca exactly half my lifetime ago and as an ode to that I shall go hot............

I think that's the whole point of the jacket - ie it keeps you warm without being heavy and bulky. Just because it's thin doesn't mean it won't do it's job properly:

Now £60 at Debenhams!!! Just ordered one. Shows £80 on page but shows £60 when added to basket and on list of jackets in sale.

£60 a Debenhams is pretty damn good for a down jacket but I would be wary of someone selling a down jacket and not telling you what the fill density was. North Face go up to 900 on some of their jackets but I suspect this one is probably half that.

Although I think the 210g of fill quoted on Debenhams site is pretty good.
