Seems a good price so will vote hote, however I tried these and felt they were no better than the £20 JVC / Sony ? senhieser CX300II you see often available at this much lower price point.

Are these really just fashion earphones for kids to feel 'in with the crowd' when in the playground?

i read the review on dixons website 8.6 /10 and the sound is very good

This has to be the first time I've seen a beats by dre product on here that's not cold.
lol and within seconds ..... It's freezing
why vote cold

why vote cold

Generally, it's because this is a deals site, not a site about fashion, so people see Beats, know there are better quality, cheaper alternatives, and vote cold accordingly.
they are crap.

poor quality (sound and build), aimed at chavs, branding at its best.

why vote cold

I would hazard a guess it's because people, rightly or wrongly, question the value for money of the product, Good price though.
its for people who cant afford the most expensive ones
Rarely if ever rated for quality of sound by proper hifi users or hifi critics. Build quality and sound is poor compared to often cheaper award winning gear.
what do you guys want solo hd for £50
If the sound quality is anything like as poor as the Lady Gaga HeartBeat model, I'll stick with my budget CX300II's thank you all the same. The missus has the HeartBeats and doesn't wear them: they're uncomfortable and woefully lacking around the bottom end.

Sorry, Bro631... that's why I'm voting cold. Nothing to do with 'can't afford expensive ones'. Sometimes you simply don't get what you pay for and in the case of the Beats, it's definitely an example of style over substance.

With CX300 II's at about twenty quid, these are freezing.
Its a good price for a seriously over rated product - the cold votes are people expressing the fact that the product even at £50 is overpriced still. I voted hot on the basis if you really want these (or the peer pressure on your kids to have them is too much) then this is a good price.
My £5 Sony headphones does the same job if not better.

At this stage any parent would say get some better peers to hang around with instead of the Dre losers.
Even with all the negative comments I have seen with Dr Dre's, I bought a pair at Christmas and the sound is amazing. The best I have heard in a long time (better than Bose). So have some heat from me X)
Have to agree - I've had a bit of an earphone fetish lately, Denon, Panasonic, sennheiser and Sony. I just bought sensation xl last week which came with these earphones and the sound is remarkable, it blew me away. Comet retail these at 79.99 so this is a great price heat added.
Nb. What is qudico?
cold. I'd spend the cash on logitech ultimate ears

Bose and Beats: two of the most over-hyped products ranges in terms of performance.

but Apple stuff is of decent quality (build and ease of use).

Apple fan boys just seem to be blind to other competitors, which can, sometimes, be better. shock horror.

Because Apple products are better than the competition rather than just being a pure marketing gimmick targeted at insecure teenagers?

i respect both apple and android... i do agree that apple are over priced and there are a lot of people blind to competition... saying that the build quality from what i've used has been good. personally I would choose android purely for development purposes and customisation but would recommend apple for those who want ease of use.

I have a pair of Ultimate Ears 100 if you want them for £50 lol..

Got them free with the G15 keyboard last week. Something tells me you wouldn't be spending £50 on them tho lol

lol..."Better than Bose" isn't really a glowing endorsement...

Has anybody actually tried Bose or Beats? or is it that no-one can afford them and so moans about them:p

yes and yes.

i like Bose, at least they have decent sound quality. Beats are absolute ****.
Regardless of peoples personal opinion on the product, this is a good saving for anyone looking to buy these specific headphones.

I must admit i cant understand how every beats deal goes cold. I have these, the studios and the beatbox for my ipod. Granted these are expensive and you could get similar quality headphones cheaper but a lot of people will pay the extra for the brand, thats the society we live in. BUT they are still good pieces of kit.

Then again what do i know, i have an Ipad & Macbook pro! :-O

**Waits patiently for APPLE & BEATS hate brigade**

For me Klipsch S4's are typically the best value for money. Excellent sound quality. Great reviews, and occasionally good prices come up on here too. I got a second pair as spares for £17 on here not long ago.

Now compare that to £50 for beats..... thats pretty much tripple the price and worse sound quality.

it depends on what sort of person you are. i never buy anything because of brands, i buy because of quality (maybe because i am a engineer and think that way?)

To me, you summed up the argument well, you dont think they are better, but would buy them for the brand. i wouldnt, i'd spend the money on some nice Sony noise cancelling headphones.

Have to disagree with this, I'm afraid. Tried some of the £5 Sony headphones a few weeks ago, just to see how they were. Terribly top heavy and far too 'tinny' to get any enjoyment from. The Dre phones are not great but there really is no comparison between the two.

i just got some £26 Sony headphones (noise cancelling travel ones) and they sound amazing, much better than BEATS or other such crap

to be honest other than the harsh chav comment his statement is pretty true...

Just like all other Monster products..... average products with a premium price tag and clever marketing sees them touted as a premium product when at best they are just mediocre.

sure you can buy worse headphones..(take a look at the ones in poundland for example) but that said those only cost £1......

Compare a set of beats to a similarly price set of Klipsch, Shure or Grado's and the Beats would stand out for what they really are...A fashion accessory.

This is only my speculation but i think the main reason most owners think they sound good is because the only comparison they have are the even more woeful earbuds that Apple ship with iPhones and iPod's

wasnt a harsh comment, was a fact.

your prejudice against chavs was harsh.

i couldn't believe how horrifically bad they were after so many people had said they were good! blind leading the blind.

Anyone who has time to give beats a bad name like most on here clearly hasnt given them a good listen, they may not be the best build quality but the sound is brilliant and so called £20-40 sony headphone are not as decent quality.
Also i agree apple headphones have a very poor quality, not sure how there hyped up as much as they are.
