About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Credit goes to sinxa for originally posting the deal at the start of the year, used it to get Amazon Prime Student: 6months free prime and then £39/year. Had a look and the deal is available for another 5 days for those of you who may have missed it.

How to become a student, and become eligible for an NUS/NUS Extra card, in 3 simple steps:

1. Purchase the £4 eCareers course, found on GoGroupie here:

gogroopie.com/dea…rse

2. Activate your voucher instantly on the eCareers website:

e-careers.co.uk/red…her

When scrolling through the T&Cs, only accept the FIRST box, or you will have to wait 7 days before you can access your course.

3. Once your course has been activated and assigned (you will receive an email) navigate to NUS and sign up as a student. Be sure to select eCareers as your place of study, the card itself should cost £12.00.

Link: cards.nusextra.co.uk/?ut…tra

NUS may check your eligibility with eCareers, so make sure your data (Name, DOB etc.) match up!

List of all discounts here:

nus.org.uk/en/…ts/

My favourite NUS Discount:

6 months Free Amazon Prime Student membership followed by £39 a year student membership.

PLEASE READ COMMENTS, MANY USERS REPORTING ENTERING 'Study Smart Online' WHEN IT ASKS FOR PLACE OF STUDY WORKS INSTEAD OF PURCHASING A COURSE FROM ECAREERS.

* * * IGNORE THE OPS ADVICE TO BUY A COURSE - YOU DO NOT NEED TO * * *

Enter 'Study Smart Online' on the NUS Extra site where it asks for Place of study. If it asks for Course reference just enter any number or name.

(I am currently looking at the NUS card i received after entering Smart Study Online, for you doubters )

The Two biggest perks (for me) are
1. Amazon Student (free 6 months trial then £39/Year)
2. Co-Op 10% off (certain items excluded)*

*Bizzarely, their T&Cs say Baby milk is excluded - yet i managed to get a few quid off it the last time i went in!

This Keeps being posted EVERY MONTH or so, yet the OP who posts it always seem to make out that you have to pay for a course. In case its not clear enough:

    YOU...DO...NOT...NEED...TO...PAY...FOR...A...COURSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simply type in "Study Smart Online" in the 'Place of Study' box. If it asks for course reference just type in any number.
Follow the procedure through and it will complete. Pay the fee, wait a week or so and Viola!
Enjoy your new card and the £4 saving!

Depends what your conscience tells you. Some would argue that pretending to be a student and buying a course just to get an NUS card is wrong.
But yes if it makes you feel better then you can "legitimately" apply for a free or paid course as mentioned.

My daughters 3 year NUS card ends soon and there’s no doubt she will miss it when it ends!
A full list of shops accepting it and giving a discount was posted on here a while back:

If in doubt, futurelearn.com has a bunch of free online courses run by legit universities up and down the country. You can easily enrol on one of those if you need any course details to get the NUS card. (edited)

I ordered the Totum (NUS extra card) using the study of Egypt/archaeology details. Once I received it (after 4 working days), I emailed a photo of the card to Amazon and literally within 2 minutes they emailed confirmation of my Student Prime membership.

The following are examples that still work as place of study:
    British Computer Society
The College of Richard Collyer Student Council
    Learndirect (edited)

I have tried the Egypt/Archeology but they only seem to offer a 1 year card. Is this the same for everyone? I wondered if anyone had found a way to get the 3 year card delivered to home?

10% off at Superdrug, and 20% around Christmas alone does it for me!
10% New Look, Miss Selfridge, Jack Wills, Asos, Accessorise, and plenty more.
Loads of discounts on eating out...40% Pizza Express, 25% Presso, 20% Pizza Hut, Frankie & Benny's, Dominos.
Also 6 months free Amazon Prime student trial, followed by 1/2 price for 4 years..
1 year ISIC international card on the reverse side.

Does anyone know if this student status works with council tax?

Come on... paying for an nus card and using the student discount is fine, it adds to the NUS funds so great from where I'm standing, but wanting to use a fake student enrolment to avoid council tax!? I agree not all council tax is spent in the right places, but it's public services that you use undoubtedly

This page now reads: ** UPDATE 17/8/18 – It now looks like all online providers have been removed from the NUS/Totum application and it’s highly unlikely that they will return. If there are any new tricks I’ll update the article below.**

Guys I came across this thread whilst trying to renew mine and my partners NUS cards. I had found that I could renew mine easily however I couldnt renew my partners. I then tried changing hers to my course and it worked fine.

This is what you need to do. Please note this is only for anyone who has had a card before and has an existing NUS account, it wont work for newbies!

Go to nus.org.uk/ and then go to your NUS account and change your course to 'Digital Sea Ltd' and extend the course to 2028.

When you then go to buy your Totum card it will automatically recognise this course and you can go ahead and order your card with no problems at all.

    Hope this helps someone. (edited)

They wont accept an online course, otherwise everyone would do it! You have to be full time a registered college or university

NB: This was a renewal, no idea if Digital Sea will work for new applicants, but good luck to anyone trying!

I just received my new 3 year NUS card today. And I have enrolled in student prime. This still works, it just needs a bit of trial error. The study of Egypt works but it only gives a 1 year card. learndirect works and they have courses you can sign up for. I would avoid Academys because they don't allow home delivery, maybe because they are secondary schools.
