Not sure how excited this will get anyone, but I ordered this myself a few days ago - I have the "original" Beelink Mini MXIII, this is the (rather confusingly named) Mini MXIII II.

Think this 32GB version is a newer release, wasn't around when the Mini MXIII II was originally out?

Gets a stonking review from RedSkull youtube.com/wat…Yvs who reckons it runs better than the S912 Beelink GT1! (He says this at 14:55 and 16:05).
This also has dual band Wi-Fi which is very good, apparently.

Can confirm this has Root - had to do a few OTA updates out the box to get the firmware up to date!

Edit: For some reason Gearbest don't have a picture of the remote - it's different to the original MiniMXIII, looks like this *A newer review on Gearbest implies this box now comes with the GT1 Ultimate programmable remote - close-up picture and Youtube demo - see Post #29*:

Ok Andy I realise and respect the rules of the site but I feel I am also entitled to my opinion.

No problem either way and I've nothing else to add here - obviously delete comments as you see fit and no offence meant - peace out
I will report back about Root (Firmware Upgrade) when mine appears - a gift for my brother Bought mine from a popular auction site a few days back then realised Gearbest had started this Flash Sale a day or two later. Do you think I should swap my Mini MXIII box with his (they're identical)?...just kidding

Edit: I can see more recent reviews on the Gearbest link saying their box was shipped Rooted, woohoo!

Can someone who has one of these (or any Android TV box really) please answer a quick question for me. I 'd like to VPN to my home server on one of these devices. Is the VPN simple to configure, just the same as my Android phone. On my phone I go to settings, Network, VPN, Add VPN then enter URL/Username/Password.

I currently have a Raspberry Pi3 running OpenELEC, but to configure a simple VPN is neigh on impossible.

Thank you in advance.....

I use PIA, I just downloaded it from the Google play store, entered my account details and it’s up and running.
Personally i would go for the 16GB storage version that is available from numerous Ebay sellers for under £40 delivered FROM THE UK.
So no 3-4 week wait and no risk of customs charges.

Oh, and don't take any notice of the Redskull youtube reviews on TV boxes . He reviews boxes on original firmware and refuses to re-review after firmware changes. Most of his review points are completely wrong as the boxes currently ship with different firmware , so issues are fixed ( though there could be new problems ).
This box is different to the reviewed MXiii and will have different firmware and could even have different components installed ( there have been boxes where the wifi chips have been changed to slower models during the production cycle )

Well I'm accused of being a self-appointed "Android Expert" (?) (as if) and I didn't know that about Redskull, I'll try to find other reviews to even the score, in that case.

Re UK sellers of the Mini MXIII II. I wonder if it's a bit like the situation that happened with the Nubia Z7 Max - there were ebay UK sellers of that too but it turned out their businesses were based in China*, but it could mean they have stock in the UK. More trouble with any sort of warranty/customer service - this also applies to Gearbest, but quicker UK shipping (I assume) and guaranteed no Customs charge.

With Customs, picking the slowest delivery option is best - never been charged yet - though I can't say I order a lot from China!

*Edit: Yep, seems that way so far? This UK listing (think they sold the Nubia as well!) is based in China though implies it ships from Hayes, UK - tells you at the bottom of the listing, under Business Seller Information http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371300771630

Same for this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391565591323

(both ebay listings say Mini MXIII, but state S905X in the listings). Couldn't find a bona-fide UK seller of this box.

I'm not sure I follow you? Am I missing something? The Youtube review and Freaktab links I posted are for the Mini MXIII II. I'm guessing you're talking about the firmware/hardware concerns, over a period of time. Didn't know about the Wi-Fi chips being changed, will have to dig around.

Not sure if this Gearbest 32GB box has any differences, could only find reviews of the Mk2 16GB version, which came out around August 2016. When the 32GB box appeared, not sure!

Edit: Re Wi-Fi: On Freaktab gale on Post #21 freaktab.com/for…421 suggests the Wi-Fi chip is "Usually" AP6212 (for the Mini MXIII II). Though this assumption seems wrong, as other spec sheets for this box say Aigale AW-CM273SM - AP6335 (same as the Beelink GT1 box?).

As regards Wi-Fi chip changes, can only see someone mentioning on that Freaktab thread that the S905X Mini M8S II's AP6212 Wi-Fi chip was changed to AP6212A, not sure why or when. Maybe it happens commonly with other boxes - can't say for sure as I am no expert I do know the Mini M8S II 8GB version suffered from terrible Wi-Fi compared to the newer 16GB variant - maybe that's why?

Nathan909 here forum.libreelec.tv/thr…tml says, "When I did a mac address lookup it came back with 74:C6:3B = AzureWave Technology Inc. I emailed Beelink, AMlogic and AzureWave Technology Inc., but we'll see what happens."

Bit confused that Gearbest advertise the Mini MXIII II as having "Gigabit Ethernet" where everywhere else says LAN 100Mbps (10/100). Has that also changed over time? I guess I will only find out when mine arrives. (I suspect it's a mistake, as I can't see it mentioned elsewhere, really).

I've been looking out for an Android box for a while now for my brother (which is why I mentioned this on some S905X threads - and it wasn't from this seller, actually ebay, £41.99 at the time) - NOT to offend one member, but to inform others what else is out there.

I nearly went for the Netflix HD-compatible but Wi-FI only, Xiaomi Mi Box 3 Enhanced (posted a Deal about it eons ago - Xiaomi, as ever, confusing with their model names) hotukdeals.com/dea…032 at the time of posting you could only flash an English ROM - I hoped there would be a newer International version available, doesn't seem so. ROMs put me off, in case there's issues.

My niece has the S905X Nexbox A95X 16GB (which seems pretty good) - this S905X Beelink gets great reviews and the 32GB internal memory was tempting too (no MicroSD cards for brother to faff about with).

Can't really see any chatter about hardware changes with this Beelink, though I did update the link about the latest firmware for this box on Post #1.

Seeing all the comments about bugs with the S912 boxes on forum.kodi.tv put me off considering those...

Re the earlier comment about ebay UK sellers of this (actually based in China) - the one I ordered says Location: Shenzhen, China, yet is being posted from Hayes, UK (?) - just looked at the courier tracker.

So I will get mine via UK post as well! Kinda confusing but good to know! (As I said, mine cost £41.99 - and is the 32GB box).
I want to buy this but all the comments have confused me. Just to clarify OP, is it Gearbest that ship the box from Hayes?

No, I ordered from ebay, mentioned this a few times on HUKD

The seller is in China but the courier tracker says Hayes, UK, doesn't make sense http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282303565256

However, that same seller "best4noone" (guess it's supposed to mean bestfornumberone!) has a few listings of this box in $ and £ - the $ listing is slightly cheaper at £40.83 (maybe depends on currency conversion?) here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282232167317

Can't guarantee that every listing they have will come from the UK, but the first link at £41.99 appears to be.

Yes, Yodel. I wonder if I would have got it today - starting to suspect my intercom isn't working as the buzzer went and nobody got in! Postman couldn't get access on Friday either and I pressed the door open button, sigh.
ok thanks - I made an order on the strength on knowing dispatch was from Hayes

This does seem to be the best out there really, despite the neighsayers

I was going to get the Beelink GT1 but apparently they're not 100%
Remember you need a Wireless Keyboard/mouse of some kind to get full functionality with these boxes. The cheapest (illuminated) touchpad/keyboard unit I can see on Amazon Prime is £9.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sonnics-Wireless-Rechargable-Multifunction-Raspberry/dp/B0152A76H2/

Cheapest backlit (actually realised it's free UK delivery, d'oh! Non-Prime though) is £8.39 amazon.co.uk/Lee…L0I *says "get it by Mar. 30-April 8" at Checkout

Non-backlit is cheaper, of course.

Seems to be a GT1 Ultimate out now, Dual Band Wi-Fi, 32GB/3GB RAM and Octa-Core S912, ARM Mali T820-MP3 - rooted, gigabit LAN. £58.52 at the moment http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_607556.html?wid=21

Might annoy some HUKDers but RedSkull reviews it youtube.com/wat…XKc The Beelink launcher seems the same as before. DTS and Dolby Digital work fine with Kodi. GTA Liberty City Stories, he says, doesn't run totally smooth on this box. AnTuTu Benchmark scores are worse than the original GT1!

(Comparing it to the original GT1) his summary concludes it has the Dolby/DTS capability the other lacks but the Wi-Fi isn't as good, and maybe isn't really an upgrade to the GT1.

The GT1 Ultimate comes with a brand new remote, seems to have a basic programmable function: i.ytimg.com/vi/…jpg (closer look at the remote at 2:52): https://youtu.be/IKxjj7xKLCw?t=172

Weirdly the Kodi launch app and add-on app package are all called Qodi on this box (Not sure why? Copyright maybe).

It was hard to tell which box to go for. I slightly regret not ordering a Beelink GT1 16GB (regular) at £49.99 but to be honest the s912 processor offers me no tangible benefits - I won't be playing any 4K and Android games don't interest me.

Thanks - I have a Rii i8+ controller ordered which is the original of what you linked to - be careful with those fakes.

No, these Android boxes don't play Netflix HD or 4K - the Xiaomi boxes can play Netflix HD, not sure about 4K. It will still play Netflix afaik, just not in those formats. You'd need to buy a certified device, which is pricier.

The (ebay bought) 32GB Beelink box has arrived! Woohoo! Ordered on the 8th so that's 6 days' delivery. Will update this post with any thoughts later.

This box still uses the same power supply as the original so was able to just swap over (saves me pulling out cables). The original remote also works with the newer version which is handy as well. There was a System Update as soon as I switched on imgur.com/397…MgA (After install and reboot, when checking System Update again there was another one!).

(Edit: Seems you have to keep manually updating to get it up to date one version at a time, via More Settings>About Mediabox>System Update, on my fourth update so far - which takes it to MINI MXIII-II_110M0, so be prepared to spend a bit of time updating).

The MINI MXIII-II_110M0 update changes the Beelink launcher Kodi icon to QODI, the same as the GT1 Ultimate.

Just checked Root and it is Rooted

There was a System Update as soon as I switched on http://imgur.com/397DMgA (After install and reboot, when checking System Update again there was another one!).(Edit: Seems you have to keep manually updating to get it up to date one version at a time, via More Settings>About Mediabox>System Update, on my fourth update so far - which takes it to MINI MXIII-II_110M0, so be prepared to spend a bit of time updating). The MINI MXIII-II_110M0 update changes the Beelink launcher Kodi icon to QODI, the same as the GT1 Ultimate.Just checked Root and it is Rooted

Hi Louise, A bit confused which e bay item did you buy in the end as you stated earlier the ones you mentioned seem to be a long lead time i.e. From China ?

Thanks for that.
I have counted through the posts on my phone to confirm we are on the same message. I understand but as you say seller says China dispatch & I cannot wait until the e bay estimated arrival date of up 20th April hence my surprise at your 6 day turnaround by thanks anyway.
