I'd be interested to hear why this is currently -9c, which means at least two people have voted it cold. Yeah, it's digital, but it's an excellent deal.

Its always a mistake to whine about cold votes

seems a good deal to me - voted hot

Really good deal.
There are lots of other multiple CD download deals for £3.
Heat added.

good deal, though with classical always prefer uncompressed (or CDs) but only cause I tend to listen to them at home (amp, better headphones) rather than on an mp3 player.

Don't know about "lots" for £3 but here's what I found in addition to this:-
]The 99 Most Essential Pieces of Classical Music
]Brahms Brahms: Symphonies Nos. 1-4, etc
]Tchaikovsky Tchaikovsky: The Complete Symphony Collection

and finally, for £5.99
]The 99 Most Essential Mozart Masterpieces

Thanks StrawMan. I liked, I bought, I voted hot.

Welcome StrawMan:thumbsup: Very GOOD first post:-D downloaded and heat added:-D:-D

Am I missing a trick?

Disappointed. I read this excellent alert and popped this into my basket this afternoon, ready to check out tonight when I had more time only to receive the message that the price had changed from £3 to £18.99. Yeah, that's a price change there, alright.

I certainly won't be buying at that price (I already have two complete sets of the Beethoven symphonies and a few stray single ones, too) and I'm usually a CD buyer than an MP3 purchaser, but I will keep this in my basket in case it reverts.

Mind you, reading the discussions further down that page it looks like peopel have had lots of problems with downloading the tracks from this and some of the other "multi CDs" in the £3 download offer. The biggest issue seems to be lengthy downloads coupled with buyers failing to understand that they have not bought a permanent right to download. If they don't download it all in one go, the opportunity's gone, though calls to Amazon customer service do usually seem to trigger a second chance. Maybe the Beethoven's gone back up in price to slow down demand?

It's probably worth mentioning that these versions of the symphonies divided opinion when they came out. Some thought they were visionary readings, others thought they were jarring, though they seem in the intervening years generally to have become regarded as A Good Thing.

why did I wait and not order this last night? bah

If you see a good deal you have to grab it immediately;-) I have not had a problem with Amazon downloads in the 4 times I’ve used them:thumbsup: I also like to have different recordings of the same music for comparison :-D
