First post - be kind. Or don't, I don't really care

This is a pretty standard frost free fridge freezer. It's a Which "Best Buy" and is at least £320 elsewhere and £350 is most "mainstream" retailers. Here's the full Which review:

"The Best Buy frost-free Beko CDA556FW fridge freezer cools evenly and isn't affected by fluctuations in the room temperature. The fridge cools fresh food quickly, too.

The CDA556FW can freeze a decent 8Kg of fresh food in 24 hours, pretty good for a freezer compartment of this size. If there's a power cut, food won't start to thaw for just over 20 hours, which is a decent length of time.

It takes 10 hours to chill fresh groceries to the recommended temperature (under 5°C) this ensures your food stays fresher for longer than in fridges that are slower to cool.

Every shelf cools to just the right temperature, so there are no warms spots where food can deteriorate. The manufacturer's recommended thermostat setting is spot on, so you won't have to fiddle around when setting it up for the first time.

It has plenty of adjustable storage space. There is a bottle shelf at the bottom of the door with a rubber grip that holds different-sized bottles in place when the fridge is opened.

The freezer is frost free and will save you the chore of regularly defrosting it. Clear plastic drawer fronts allow you to find food quickly. It also has a reversible door.

Running costs are a little pricey for a fridge freezer this size. See the specification tab above for our most up-to-date running costs.

Pros: Fridge is fast to cool fresh food, immune to fluctuations in room temperatures, very even temperature distribution, accurate thermostat, frost free

Cons: Running costs are a little high"

Incidentally, the compressor is made by LG for those of you who don't like Beko.

had a beko fridge freezer for 2 years now
it died , crap built and noisy.
hot (cos it broke)

Beko = The Acer of White goods.
Had a beko freezer for a decade and it's never missed a beat.

Having said that, if you *must* go for another brand, you could probably do worse than this:

bestbuy.co.uk/pro…070

It looks broadly equivalent, but with a larger proportion of it taken up with freezer than fridge and slightly larger capacity overall, for £229.99 + £6.99 delivery - oh and there's also quidco and possibly cashback/vouchers, as it's best buy.

Hotpoint isn't frost free.

That looks like a good deal too. It isn't frost free though, which I consider to be a necessity (maybe I'm just lazy).

yep, they are both crap !
No one has mentioned the real reason for a BEKO firdge/freezer yet: they work down to -15C ambient (eg in your garage last winter)!

BEKO is the Skoda of the whitegoods market - an unfashionable brand offering remarkable value on decent products.

Those statistics are all well and good, but reliability and longevity are more important to me - my last Beko lasted just 24 months and I dont keep it in the garage, I keep it in the house so I can use the damn thing

Hmmm.
I have the 664.

I have the 664.
Yes, that's right.
On my third since December and THIS one has the same fault as the previous 2.
They all iced up behind the right side salad box.
Only reason I've not sent it back is I'm having a rest from waiting in to have them delivered.
I won't vote though as this model might actually work.

Responsible for 20 fires and 1 death? Think I'll take my chances with a different brand.

I own the 556 and it works very well, no ice. Of course I can't speak for Beko's quality control. Have you checked that the rubber gasket around the door forms a tight seal? A handy way to do this is to put a torch inside the fridge, close the door and then have a good look to see if you can see any light escaping.

EXACTLY !!!!
And I want to keep it that way!
Life OUTSIDE the freezer and not INSIDE it.
Or doesn't that bother you?
1st. As this is a post about Beko fridge freezers, anyone with relevant and IMPORTANT experience should add to it.
2nd. Beko have just recalled one of their models to stop it from burning down people's homes!
3rd. The same fault on THREE units with serial numbers very far apart points to a design or manufacturing fault, not just bad luck.
However, as I took out a 3 year warranty, I am prepared to keep getting new units for that length of time, either until I get a good one or a refund.
Obviously, I will not ask for a refund untill close to the end of the warranty. (_;)

ps. I AM on an anti Sumvision crusade though.
Only buy from a retailer with good after sales service as SUMVISION do NOT honour the guarantee!
They are so bad I'm convinced they are connected to Dixons! oO
pps. My criticisms are not aimed at the deal poster.
It's not your fault Beko are going boobs up.

BEKO have been aware of it for 4 months and have attempted to 'bury' it. London Fire Brigade blew the whistle on them in frustration. If it wasn't for them BEKO would still be keeping very quiet, in the knowledge there are 500,000 fridge freezers in your homes that could burn it down.

I would NEVER buy BEKO again.

On the subject of garage temperatures they are also misleading you. If you read the sticker and writing in the brochure is says the freezer is guaranteed down to -15, just like everyone else - there is no guarantee on the fridge below 5 degrees. If you don't believe me read the instructions that come inside the product. They are basically lying, in knowledge you won't know the food in your dridge is going up and down in temperature !!
