I've just bought this machine..... being delivered tomorrow. Looks a good deal for the price.
My current Beko has given us 7 years good service and has only now developed a fault.

You'll get the usual comments on this deal that a Beko will only last 5 minutes and will probably burn your house down blah blah blah.

Heat.

Its free delivery as well and they will take away your old machine for recycling no charge...... I got a delivery day two days after ordering

II had this one for over 8 months. Very pleased about it. Some heat!

I forgot about the free delivery and free recycling of the old appliance, thanks

Great price, but usual hesitation with anything made or badged Beko, would I chance it with a firm that has had a poor safety reputation with so many fires, yes, they will be extra vigilant now!

Yes, I'm sure that's what all Beko owners were saying the day before their appliance burnt down their house.

By your logic, because I haven't died over the past 35 years, then I probably never will. Well, lets hope you're right.

I've had a beko washing machine and fridge freezer for years now with no trouble. I guess you will find people with complaints about most budget range makes. Got a friend who repairs machines who says most problems caused by customers overloading the machines - not the machines themselves. I know I'm guilty of overloading mine from the to time to save doing 2 washes.

there is a website thast lists all the faulty products. I for one have had beko products for years with no problem, hot from me

Some heat is an understatement judging by the safety reputation of Beko appliances!

Banned

I would give heat but only in irony.

i have the wmb71231w, which is very similar to this, good washing machine well built, massive drum and along list of wash options, as well as an led display and i can change the wash cycle as it goes along, e.g. i can add an extra rinse to some washes if it has not reached the spin cycle.

i paid £205 6 months ago so this is a good price.

overall very good for the money.

jolly nice of them to "Recycle" your old machine which means sell it to someone else!!!! I Believe Apple do the same!

Maybe beko have improved their washers (and dryers) in the last 5 years, like they did with their fridges, in which case its a good deal. If they haven't then my advice is to avoid beko as mine lasted 1.5 years and everything went on it including the drum. My indesit on the other hand is still going after 3 years.

Stay away, fire hazard!

the only thing about this deal being on fire is your house maybe, i know a lot don`t believe it but i was lucky to be in when i got given a brand new beko from a relative that caught on fire (motor) had only been used 5 times and yes it was transported correctly ,soall you people with these i can only say ,MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN WHEN IT IS ON !if you have a wife and kids that you think nothing of and a home that you wouldn`t mind if it burn`t then GOOD LUCK! BE WARNED!!!! stay away .

Or you could pay your council to remove it for you! Mine charges £20 per appliance. Currys actually refurbish them and give them to the British Heart Foundation to resell in their appliance stores. If they can't refurbish they strip all the parts and pass them for recycling.

Despite years of warnings this is still the current situation (March 2013)

I don't have this exact model but my beko washing machine has never failed me. I've never had a problem with it. I've got 2 kids so my washing machine gets used every other day and ive had mines for just over a year now and couldn't complain

With these Beko washing maching deals, you always get the same 'it'll burst into flames' posts..... yawn...... no one takes any notice and the deals always get hot. Plus like myself, many people have had Beko washers for years with no probs.
Don't know why these scaremongers bother.

Thanks for the reply. It answers me...I will go for this model. No need to check anything......any idea when this deal is going to end?

Can anyone find a link to the manual for this model? ( I had a look and it doesn't show up on the beko.co.uk website or is this also known as a different model?).

Is this cold flll only or needs both hot and cold?

Thanks

Hi,
I got this model a few months back (same price) and it is cold fill only. seems quite cheap to run though.

Once a company gets a bad reputuation because of serious life threatening poor quality and multiple recalls it's had to justify putting your faith in them having overcome such fundamental quality control flaws. It's not scaremongering.... maybe they have overcome these issues ....... and I'm sure British Leyland made some decent cars once!!

You pays your money and makes your choice (and takes your chances).

I take it you won't be buying any brand of washing machine then and doing … I take it you won't be buying any brand of washing machine then and doing it all by hand as they all have had fire warnings

No. All electrical appliances have the ability to cause a fire but I always research all white goods manufacturers and products and would only buy from those with a half decent reputation.

I would also NEVER ever use a washing machine in an unattended house or overnight having once experienced one catching fire in the past due to a motor burning out. It was a Candy incidentally and a very frightening experience.

Edited by: "kar999" 30th Mar 2013

Had Beko before, can't recommend, Privileg, AEG and Bosch I had very good experiences with.

Beko have had recalls on several products, but washing machines weren't one of them, so all this fire business is a bit silly.

I had a Bosch until recently, when it decided it wanted to set on fire. It was only 4 years old as well, so proof that really brand doesn't always mean a great deal. My sister has had a Beko washer for 6 years and it's still going strong! Might not have the brand value of the German names, but they're certainly not to be sniffed at.

whatsThePoint

"half decent reputation" so ones that sell in smaller numbers than mass … "half decent reputation" so ones that sell in smaller numbers than mass produced beko's and appear to have a lower fire risk

I think you're missing the point. Beko obviously had, or still has, a far worse safety record than many other manufacturers. That and common sense, should ring alarm bells for anyone who has an interest in the safety and well being of their families.
Mass producer or small manufacturer is irrelevant. It's the history of a high percentage of fauty products and poor recall notification that matters.

Dont take my word for it. Google words like Beko, safety, trading standards, Which?, Recalls, London Fire Brigade, etc and judge for yourself .

Anyway we obviously differ in opinions of Beko and there is no right and wrong. Other comapnies make poor quality white goods but I personally wouldn't want to put my faith in Beko given their previous widely, and offically reported, extremely poor safety record.

Other may beg to differ... it's a free world.

can you provide a link to the stats to back up your claim beko have a … can you provide a link to the stats to back up your claim beko have a worst safety record than any other company

No I cant.... but as one example I would suggest half a million fridge freezers is a fairly big number... Up to 500,000 Beko fridge freezers manufactured between 2000 and 2006 may have or had a fault that can result in fire Source Which? which.co.uk/new…42/

......but as I said in my previous post our opinions obviuosly differ. Buy Beko if you so wish. It's a free world. I personally won't be for the reasons I think I've already outlined enough.

Its a PERSONAL choice . Thanks
