Belkin 3m Displayport cable £1 at Poundland Hammersmith

Found 22nd Jul 2013
One of the Hammersmith branches of Poundland had a load of these - none at all at the other so obviously store specific, though you never know..

Picked one up as I just bought a new gfx card with displayport output as well as DVI and I've been currently using an old stretched VGA cable with adaptor that barely reaches so this will do the job nicely.

I only went in to buy a micro USB cable to charge my phone as I forgot to pack one, but pleased to stumble across this

Clowns are voting this cold.

I've said its probably local!

Can you really find it cheaper elsewhere?

i'd personally change the logo from hdmi to display port ..

In my local poundland as well, also Usb 3 belkin leads for a squid. I know you can get very cheap Usb leads but these were belkin ones.

What's a displayport? Is it same as VGA?

Is this displayport to HDMI?

Display port is the direct replacement for vga (dsub)/dvi. Hdmi was only ever meant for AV but it crept into the pc market.

It is the same, the use is to output display from a computing device to an external monitor.

Display port to display port?

Good price but last time I looked DP wasn't that prevalent on monitors. DP to hdmi would be very useful.

Good to know, my Nec's don't - twin hdmi, dvi, vga, component but no DP. Doesn't really affect me anymore as I only ever use two screens now.

Macs only use MiniDisplayport, and these are Displayport, which are much bigger- like a large SATA connector. No sure where you would get a MiniDisplayport adapter for one of these, but if you could they would be great for using as Thunderbolt...

Ah thought these would be the MDP cables.

If you're using resolutions above 1920x1080 displayport really comes into its own, HDMI is very low bandwidth so for instance when hooked up to my 2560x1440 monitor using a 3 metre cable the image will drop out as the connection is simply not good enough for that resolution, I hear that shorter cables can manage more but then things start getting inconvenient.

Displayport is also a total departure from the DVI (on which HDMI is based) standard, it behaves more like ethernet, so with monitors that can support daisy-chaining you can get for instance 4 1080p monitors running off a single displayport connection on your computer. /education

I had no idea DP was capable of higher bandwidth than HDMI! When you look at the differences, actually DP is much better really and the fact it's royalty free for the manufacturers may mean that it will grow in popularity?

Didn't spot the logo!

Wrote this on my mobile yesterday

They are going for silly prices on Amazon

Sorry to confirm its Displayport to Displayport.

Dunno why the site chose an HDMI graphic automatically!

Supposedly the two are going to run side by side, so TVs will have HDMI (except 4k content is gonna really struggle), and computers should have displayport. I guess the point is those in the know use displayport, for instance inside most phones and laptops the display is connected using the embedded displayport standard.

All this belkin stuff has already been posted.

they are very different but do the same job.

Sorry I'm a little confused. I bought one of these cables in Birmingham yesterday hoping to use it for connecting my laptop to the tv so I can watch movies online using my tv. Please can anyone tell me if this will be possible, Thanks.

Depends if your tv and laptop have this socket, Many new laptops have Hdmi out

I voted cold. The deal is good but it's not HDMI cable as suggested by the picture. Change it, will you?
