Was looking to replace my faulty router and about to shell out £59.79 at Argos for a basic 54g Belkin, when I came across this 125g Belkin router for £34.99 (46% off, down from £65) with free supersaver delivery, which took two days. So, I have a better router for a lot less money than I would have had.

Belkin networking offers this one-box solution that lets you share your ADSL Internet connection, files, and peripherals, without cables. It combines two essential networking functions in one innovative product-an ADSL Modem with a 4-port Wireless Router. Operating at wireless speeds up to 125Mbps, the ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router operates on the 802.11g wireless Ethernet standard.

good find...have some heat

great find from me too, excellent routers!

heat added as good buy!

What make router did you have before? because if you had a Belkin than they replace them for free.

Can I use this to connect to my xbox 360 to communicate with my bebox router downstairs? How easy are these to set up. I have used Belkin products in the past and they are not the most reliable....

I've had this (or a similar one) for over three years now. I've used it with a ps3, 360, Wii, homeplugs and anything else you can think of and it's been great. However, now I'm just using it as a ethernet switch and wireless bridge with my consoles and homeplugs.

Yeah I've got a belkin at home and we use a belkin at work, both tend to be fraught with problems, I'd advise paying a little bit more for a different brand.
Still, this is a decent price for such a router, can't fault the deal!

Marmite reviews on Amazon.
Completely new to this sort of thing...does this allow you to connect 4 wired devices plus around 4 wireless devices (Is there such a thing?)

i had a belkin router before, was always very hot and disconnecting, never saw much ventilation/ cooling design on it ,have a zyxel modem router now and is very reliable and cool running. In belkins favour is the 0800 support( nice yanks to talk to) and lifetime warranty,

Better spending £40 on a WRT54GL

i must be just lucky, as never had any problems and had it for a while now!

must agree with the few comments here. These Belkins can be hit and miss. I had belkin everywhere(had 2 adsl connections at once) but was getting too many problems. Have since moved to Buffalo which are very cheap, no probs at all.

However 35 quid is a good deal and i'd buy one at that price.

Good price, but I would go for the Buffalo deal earlier today.
I've had a bad experience with Belkin reliability and support.

Still voting hot.

which was the buffalo one listed today?

I had a Belkin, which has been excellent for almost two years. Then I decided to upgrade the firmware from their site, which killed the wireless connectivity (I'm not the only one). After a couple of free support calls, they are arranging for free replacement, so when it comes, I can just sell it. This one from Amazon works just fine and as I said in my OP, is a lot cheaper than anywhere else and a lifetime warranty (that's gotta be worth something) - Kelkoo it and see.
:-D

How can this and other disuading posts in this thread compare to the Belkin, if your average Joe is looking to just get online with an all in one box? The Belkin contains the all important ADSL modem. Neither this ugly router, nor the Buffalo WZR2-G300N have an inbuilt modem.
So, for £35 the Belkin (with inbuilt modem) is the better deal

Saw the following at PCWorld online :

NETGEAR WGB111BDL - 100UKS 54Mbps Wireless Router & USB Adapter Bundle

for £39.52

Any opinions ??

p.s. is it OK to add the URL? Wasn't sure

I think the 1st one is better just because it is a modem + router
but the netgear is just a router....

Just my opinion....others might disagree:whistling:

I have been thinking about this since I got my Dell Vostro laptop, what do you guys think of this? It has got very good reviews on the site, if I get positive feedback I will buy it tonight together with an Xpad cooling pad for £15 from fleabay!!

Bisto 34, I am very happy for you and your router, but would you be courteous enough to put it in your own thread, rather than hijacking mine?
Moreover, your Zoom 5590 at £33.99 is its regular price on Amazon, so hardly a hot deal.

I've been thinking of upgrading my router since I got my PS3. I have been getting regular disconnections from the network on the PS3 (when using WMP to share media files), and have tried everything - then read yesterday it may be because as routers get older, they can get less efficient and that this could be causing it. Anyone had this problem and fixed it with a new router?

Also, can anyone tell me if this would work with Virgin Broadband (ex Blueyonder) - i.e. could I ditch my motorola modem and WLAN and replace it with this?

Thanks in advance

(PS - voted hot!)

Personally I'd go for the Zyxel one for £38.99. It has a really good feature set for the price and seems to be rock solid for me.

Edit: that is for an ADSL router. Moneyshot, you will need a cable router instead.

Since this thread is not just discussing your router and I am thinking of buying the Zoom as it has got good ratings on ebuyer and Amazon, I was asking for other peoples views, and giving them a choice of another product, I would of possibly thought about the Belkin but this hasn't got good feedback so I will leave it alone, I haven't seen you scolding others talking about various routers on YOUR thread:whistling:
