I got one of these (the chocolate one). It's great! Recommended!

It can handle my 16.1" widescreen laptop easily on the smaller side with a bit of room to spare, and flipping it over will hold my 17" and 18" laptops no probs.

posted before and never arrived

It's been this price for as long as I can remember. Bought one about a year ago, or more!

I know its been this price for over a year, but thought I'd post it as some people dont even know this item exists.

cheapes price for a netbook I've seen! Can this run XP or just Linux? Got one of the Dell's last year for the wife, but this beats that

my 8 year old brat is asking me also, "will it play WoW"?

Voted pot. Rep bladdered.

Apparently a great price for something you didn't know you needed! Not buying one is even cheaper.

Be careful using something like this as it could cause your laptop to overheat. I spoke to a dell technician before after having problems with my laptop and he said 95% of overheating faults they go out to replace are because people use them on surfaces that restrict airflow (beds being a common one). Something like this is going to do the same thing, just block off airflow and cook the laptop.

another option

I remember buying one of these for a tenner ages ago from Play.

But...

This particular item came up in a debate a week or so ago on another forum and when I checked it was £23!!!

So this is not a bad deal.

We have one of these. It was recently rated as a top 10 laptop stand:
reghardware.co.uk/200…tml

We also have the Cooler Master one:
reghardware.co.uk/200…tml
which can also be gotten from Play:
play.com/PC/…e=0

This one is also good. Not as soft as the custtop, but excellent for ensuring that your laptop doesn't get too hot. I put in a 7200 RPM drive into my old laptop after the 4200 RPM drive failed. However, when switched on for too long it will overheat and then blue screen. This gets rid of the problem!

I used to use my laptop just on the top of a desk and even that was enough to cook it!

I have one of these and I use it all the time. It keeps the laptop cooler than being on my lap (apparently my lap contains inbuilt heating - something to do with being human and the bloodstream or something like that.)

This is designed precisely to STOP the blocking of vents and overheating.

Another comment from someone who hasn't even seen the product that they comment on :-(

Eh ?
This Belkin CushTop is a solid object - the whole point is that it gets rid of the overheating-on-a-soft-surface problem

these comments about overheating need to be taken on an individual basis.

Laptops tend to have 3 route for air extraction - Rear, side and bottom

With a bottom fan extraction the warm air is vented out of the bottom of the laptop and so having anything that tends to absorb the heat is a bad idea. In these instances it is better to have something like this:
play.com/PC/…tml

http://images.play.com/covers/5442978x.jpg

With rear and side this is not such a problem, as long as the vents on the side and rear are not obscured overheating tends to not be such an issue.

The problem with having it on the bed is the duvet tends to wrap around the bottom of the laptop and also it absorbs heat.

Exactly, it's flat and quite firm.

Problems occur when you put it on a soft surface, such as a bed.

Hey buddy
looks like you havent done your research!
I ordered one of these from Dell over a year ago with a 10% discount code + x% quidco and got it a whole lot cheaper than you have said

People like you shouldnt be allowed on HUKD....total time wasters

Ice cold for me

p.s. better luck next time:whistling:

It's not a cushion - it's a sort of padded brick

And yes, it'll help your laptop's cooling by giving it a firm surface to sit on !
