It's been posted before but at a much higher price.

I upgraded to the router - its pants, it really is. I switched back to my B/G router after a week.

I've had this router for over a year with no problems what so ever. I have 2 360's attached what can run at the same time without problems. Good deal.

Belkin routers tend to work fine fine light users, put them under load and everybody else using it gets no service

"upgraded" lol, no belkin router has ever been considered an upgrade.

Put them under any load and NO ONE will get service until you reboot, shocking stuff really.

Which brands would people recommend?

Echoing some of the comments, I got this from Scan and it's gone back..the only question they asked was is it Belkin...I replied yes...they said here's your money back.

When my free Thomson router I got from Plusnet finally gives up I am going to buy Drayek 2820n with gigabit ethernet and USB port for simple NAS backups!!!
Rock stable gear, much better than Netgear....

for the home....in my experience dlink are the best (had 4 in 14 years, each an upgrade from g to super g, wireless n, wireless n + gigabit....cant remember 1 prob)

also used the vmedia supplied netgear hub, dreadful!!

rest including belkin are garbage

If you have broadband which tends to have a dogdy line or ISP providers like Talktalk avoid Belkin I had lots of disconnections which it was so frustrating, in the end got a Netgear and never had any proglem again.

Maybe the light user not notice issues with these belkin routers but they cost this much for a reason so do yourself a favour and get a Netgear it's simple much better.

I'm going by my own experience, and other people's opinions; I have a netgear router from Sky which has been performing great for a number of years.

i would stick to dlink personally

Nothing wrong with Belkin, if you need advice on router brands go to a networking forum, not a forum that finds the cheapest place to buy curtains

The only good thing about my 2820n was when I got more back than I paid for it when I flogged it on eBay. Epic disappointment.

A brand is only as good as people's last experience of them. People then take their personal anecdotes and regurgitate them on the internet as cast iron fact, hence the varied opinion.

wrong, i have 23 years IT/Telco experience largely consultancy self employed...anyone in the know regards dlink as the best, netgear used to make good stuff but seem to have gone for the pretty box with carp inside model (dlink the opposite) and belkin are the trabant of the networking world

Netgears (that I have owned) have all been very easy to use, no problems with them, incredibly easy to portforward. No problems, I've never used belkin myself but a couple of friends had belkin branded routers and changed away to avoid hassle.

and if someone wanted an adsl router for a cheap service to go on facebook and buy curtains any router will do cheaper the better. If belkin didnt work they would be bankrupt. You may probably have lots of experience, and everyone I know with tons of experience usually advise people to go buy a router for £120 with loads of stuff the home user doesnt need, buy the cheapest, get this one for £20 or go get an edimax its just a cheap router

is this any good to replace the BT Home hub?

I've got the D-LINK DIR-615, and it's garbage! Unless you can give me clear instructions on how to easily open up the NAT settings for my 360. Set as moderate by default and I'm buggered if I can find out how to change it! Even Google hasn't been my friend on that one! Gotta say it's put me right off of having another D-LINK.

What other routers at around this price are any good then peeps?

Would have agreed with you if we hadnt have got through 3 of those within the last 12 months. We had a previous model which was in place for the first 3 years I was there (no idea how long before then) which eventually packed up. Switched to one of these, within a few months we had issues with it dropping the connection every few hours, put a cheap netgear in place to check it wasnt the line - everything was fine - left the netgreat in place while we sent it back for a replacement, again was fine for a few months and then started playing up. Sent back again. I put the new one back in in October but I left in December - Im guessing its probably been replaced again since.

I would never use Belkin AGAIN!!!! Been purchased 2 wireless adapters and one router under this brand and they are just rubbish, very poor signal and disconnection frequently!!!

I'd put dd-wrt on it first and you can do so much with that over the stock firmware and its really stable.

Check out dd-wrt.com/sit…ase
