Belkin Express Charge and Sync Desktop Lightning Dock for iPad Air £29.12 @ Amazon

Amazon have slashed the price of this Belkin dock for iPad Air and other Apple devices that use the lightning cable. It comes with a built-in USB cable that plugs into your Apple charger. If your device is in a case then you will need an opening around the socket which is as wide as the old 30-pin plug otherwise your device won't make a connection and won't charge. My iPad air case only covers the corners so works fine with this dock but if you have an Apple smart case then it won't work.

Although this is more expensive than the cheap plastic docks being sold on ebay it does securely hold the iPad Air and has a nice premium look and feel.

You also have to supply a lightning cable yourself.

Yes you do but if you have a spare one this is ideal.Good reviews too

£30 and doesn't include a plug? Might be a good price but seriously overpriced for something that likely costs a couple of quid to manufacture.

Well it is made from a solid block of aluminium rather than plastic so provides a solid base for the iPad. I had a long look for cheaper alternatives but couldn't see anything - there doesn't seem to be much choice for iPad Air docks.

Brookheather, I have one of these for the iphone 5, it's plastic rather than aluminium. The belkin website describes this as having "a sleek painted aluminium finish", so I would say this is plastic also.

Nothing personal but says all you need to know about Apple. My Playbook tablet has built in rapid charging, magnetic contacts and cost less than this when first launched (I paid quite a lot less obv towards the end). It's plastic but heavily weighted, looks good and holds the tablet great.
