s**t me, it's gold plated! Look at all that b*****ks on the back of the pack.

Hot for a pound though

You've obviously never had a USB device refuse to work because of a crap USB cable

No, and neither have most people.

I'm tempted to get one of these to mount on my wall for something to laugh at :-D

Ah I'm not most people then? :whistling: Power loss on cheap USB cables can be insane and often prevents USB powered devices from working.

unrivaled audio and video clarity. It's probably unrivaled since USB isn't used for audio and video.

It just shows how much profit PC World must make...probably cost a tenner there for their own branded one so this is well worth buying.

It is if you connect it to a camcorder which supports USB..... :whistling: It even has a picture of a digital camcorder on the front of the box...

C'mon, what's with all the hating? It's a good quality USB A-B cable for a saucepan lid!

DEFINITELY, used for audio. Read up.

It's gold plated because it's designed for audio/video use.
The cables themselves look good quality, so alternative possibilities for these if you can do a bit of soldering.
Great price.
Heat added

Werent these in Home bargains a couple of months back for £1.99......they mustn't of sold and so down to the pound shop!!

TBH as previously mentioned PC world/Currys/Dixons charge a fortune for cables, scandelous really as they cost them pennies. So any cable at a pound at a brick and mortar retail store is a good deal.

The methane-injected-shielded gumpf on the back on the otherhand....

HA HA HA HA HA !!

You guys all make me laugh at how a £1.00 USB cable can cause such interest.

I am laughing with you, not at you by the way...

It's a bargain and shows up the cabling industry as profiteering idiots.
It is the same with HDMI cables, Currys, PC World, Dixons etc sell cables for £50 + and there is no difference between them and one for a tenner.

Good spot mate, heat and rep added.

I use a gold plated USB to connect the PC to the MFD, ever since doing this my photo prints have been sharper and more realistic, on the the documents I print the font is clearer and the scans seem to be a higher resolution.

At only £1 it is a bargain.

:-D You're the person that does the 200 quid+ power cable reviews on what hifi yes...

Personally I look at least 5 years younger in photos printed via a USB cable with 1 atom thick gold plating. :whistling:

I had an issue with an external USB HDD cutting out during large data transfers, swapping the cable for a decent quality one resolved the issue.

I'll add that I'm not normally the type of person to go for this sort of thing, I've spent a fair old chunk of dosh on my AV setup but even though I have speakers that cost £1300 I still happily use lidl hdmi cables because they offer the same experience as the expensive cables. So yes, I was shocked when I found out what a poor quality USB cable could do (or not do as the case may be!)!

great price for this HAWT

All the guff that you see on the back of the pack is called "marketing". Its why Dixons/Currys/PC World can get away with charging £50 for the exact same item. Voted hot.

Somebody told me the reason Dixons/Currys charge so much for these cables is because they are imported....

.......from the future.

Good deal, great price. Bonus is not only is it way cheaper than PC world, you don't get some muppet trying to get you to buy other crap you don't want.

Mind you, those blister packs are a law unto themselves trying to open them

This one doesn't look too bad - the back has a perforated panel which can be pulled using the supplied 'tab'. I know what you mean tho - Microsoft have a habit of sealing everything within an inch of its life.

Quite right too. You shouldn't skimp on anti-virus measures. ;-)

Never been able to get one with a 'Impedance-matched construction' before for under £1.01 !!! :-)
Seriously though, great price.
Heat & Rep

If anyone is thinking of using this to connect their router to the PC - don't do it. Always use a pure silver cable, as the silver material kills all known viruses on contact, whereas the gold material seems to attract Nigerian phishing attacks.
No worse than some of the pseudo-science on this thread at least... :whistling:
