are these better than bt hub 5?

As far as I know (unless someone has worked out how to sniff username and password out) they are useless on BT as it uses authentication..... Nothing wrong with a homehub 5 tbh..
I got one this morning, cant get it to work with talktalk

I had one of these about 5 years ago, so it's quite old technology........and was crap back then, so unless they've made major (and I mean huge) changes to the software, I'd avoid like the plague - crashed all the time and was a general pita.

I'd also say it's nowhere near as good as the HomeHub4, nevermind the HH5.
This is a "cable" router - you need a (cable or dsl) modem to give you a WAN connection which you then connect to the yellow port.

Otherwise, you need to connect this to your main router and it can then function as a wireless access point

Actually, they have both versions (cable and ADSL) at this price - sent a shiver down my spine when I saw them in Tesco at Westwood Cross yesterday.

BT has always allowed you to use your own router on their network you just need to use the username: broadband.user@btbroadband.combt.custhelp.com/app…%3F
